Verse 5
O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
Thoughts — Thy counsels in the government of the world and of thy church.
Verse 6
A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.
A brutish man — Who is led by sense, not by reason and faith.
This — The depth of God's counsels and works.
Verse 10
But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
Anointed — I shall have cause of testifying my joy by anointing myself, as the manner was at all joyful solemnities.
Verse 12
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Palm-tree — Which is constantly green and flourishing.
Verse 13
Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
Planted — Whom God by his gracious providence has fixed there.
The house — In its courts; he means in the church of God, whereof all good men are living members.
Verse 14
They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
Old age — Their last days shall be their best days, wherein they shall grow in grace, and increase in blessedness.
