3 must-have titles
2012. 6. 3 Sunday morning worship service
Bible: Acts 2:37-38
Title: 3 must-haves
There are three gifts of faith that every true Christian must receive. The more certain you have experienced what you have received, the healthier you can lead a life of faith and the more effective it will be.
1. You must be forgiven of your sins
Even if it sounds obvious, many people misunderstand the saying that sins are forgiven and they reflect on it freely. In order to receive God's grace properly, you must receive the forgiveness of sins properly.
Acts 2:38 in the text says, “…Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” In order to receive forgiveness of sins, or to believe in Jesus, we must first repent of our sins. Mark 1:15 “…Repent and believe in the gospel.”
God wants people to repent of their sins more than any other good deeds. At that time, I want to wash you with the oil of the Holy Spirit. Listening to the apostle's sermon in today's text, brothers, what shall we do? And they beat their breasts and repented.
2. You must receive the filling of the Holy Spirit
The forgiveness of sins is the grace of the atoning blood of Jesus, and the Holy Spirit works. The problem is that the soul that has been washed with the Holy Spirit must now be filled with the Holy Spirit to live a victorious life as a believer.
Jesus gave his disciples the gift of regeneration and the Holy Spirit so that they could share in the power for three years. The problem was that after Ascension, we had to be filled with the Holy Spirit in order to properly witness the gospel.
That is why Acts 1:8 said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” They zealously spread through prayer and finally received the fullness of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.
Because simply believing in Jesus was not enough to be a witness, He allowed us to be filled with the Holy Spirit, that is, to be baptized with the fiery Holy Spirit again.
Ephesians 5:18 “…but be filled with the Holy Spirit”
3. You must receive a mission
Isn't it enough to just become a Christian, receive blessings in life, and then go to heaven? There are many people who live a life of faith like this. Calvin said, “The sense of divinity is engraved in every human heart.” Therefore, we must use our spiritual senses to live with a clear sense of calling from the Lord to personally do what we do. Each of the saints is revealing that they are missionaries who will participate in the Lord's holy work.
Acts 20:24 “I do not count even my life of any value to be of any value, in order to finish the course I must run and the mission I received from the Lord Jesus to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
Even if you work in the world, those who work with a sense of mission will surely succeed. Even if you do or don't stop, if you work with your own mind, the effect will not appear properly.
1 Corinthians 9:17 “If I do this of my own will, I will have a reward; but even if I do not do this, I have a mission.”
Christianity is not at the level of cultivating the Way or at the level of any other religion. It is a relationship with the living and working God. Christianity is not a post-cultural abstract religion like Buddhism, but a religion of life that vividly shows the history of life as a religion that participates in history. I pray that you and I will be victorious through repentance, the filling of the Holy Spirit, and a sense of mission.
