3 things to hold on to
Revelation (19) 3 things to hold on to
(Rev 2:24-29)
1. Your strengths
Most people do not receive instruction of reproof (v. 24). This is because they do not know the 'deep things of Satan' and move first with outward emotions. So the Lord also said that he would not burden the church in Thyatira with anything else, and told them to hold fast what they have until they meet the Lord (verse 25). In other words, the Lord encouraged us to hold onto “what we have and what we are good at” rather than trying to have “what we do not have”.
Being too attached to the non-existent doesn't mean that the “non-existent” suddenly becomes. Even when I think of myself, I know for sure that I'm lacking something, but that weakness doesn't turn into a little discipline overnight. If you try to fix your shortcomings and have a problematic awareness of your shortcomings, but don't dwell too much on your weaknesses, take pride in your strengths and hold onto those strengths and develop them, you can live a life that is pleasing to God.
Make your sense of calling more clear. The sense of calling is not an effort to make ‘one’s shortcomings’ into an advantage, but an attitude to contribute to the kingdom of God with ‘what one has received and what one is good at’. Don't be too discouraged or discouraged by what you don't have. If you hold onto your strengths and live your life according to your calling, that is the best way to make your life happy.
2. God's work
The phrase “hold on tight!” in the text means “focus!” Concentrate!” No matter how great you are, if it spreads out in a distraction, it will not have much power. When you focus on ‘what you have’, you will have the ability to pierce iron. The most successful attitude is the attitude of focus. If you have something valuable to do, you have to focus on it. In your life of faith, you need to focus on the Word and prayer, and focus on service, so that you will gain abilities and your wishes will come true.
Falling always has the wings of Icarus. In Greek mythology, Icarus tried to soar high toward the sun, but the candles on his wings melted and fell into the sea. If you overdo it, you will eventually fall. Hold fast to what you have now. In a life where you try to do this and that once, the ability cannot appear. If you focus on your talents and carry out God's work, your life itself will be a success, and blessed fruits will follow sooner or later.
3. Lord of Love
In verse 28, ‘the morning star’ is also called ‘the morning star’, which means the Lord who is ‘Jesus Christ’. If you have your talents and hold on to God's work until the end, they will go further than giving you 'the grace of the Lord' and will give you 'the Lord Himself'. The greatest blessing in this world is to have the heart of the Lord and to walk with the Lord according to the will of the Lord. It is important to hold fast to one's own strengths in the life of faith and to hold fast to God's work, but the most important thing is faith to hold fast to the Lord of love.
Modern people think that having a lot allows them to shout out loud and have courage in life. But it is faith, not material things, connections, or knowledge, that really gives courage to the soul. All the people of Israel trembled because of Goliath, but there was one brave man who was not afraid of Goliath. That's David. How did David have such courage? It was because he truly believed in the existence and work of God. When you believe, you become bold and not afraid of the world. No matter how great the power of the problem and the power of the world are, there is no power greater than God.
Faith enables us to overcome problems like Goliath. God meets and seeks those who believe. Only when you have faith can you feel at ease, receive blessings, win, and finally go to heaven. One irony I find in my life of faith is that people who claim to have faith usually do not have sincere beliefs, and those who pray for sincere beliefs usually have sincere beliefs. So every time you pray, pray like this a lot. "God! Give me sincere faith!”
