Joshua 2:1~14 Family Glory 2009/08/02
For a while, the movie Glory of the Family brought laughter and emotion to the people. It is about a person who moves into the family of a gang boss, ends his gang life, and is born into a new family.
Wouldn't it be great if my family could change at my time? I think a lot of people probably do.
I also have this conversation with my mother from time to time. When I was in college in 1985, I came to Seoul alone and lived on my own, living in a dormitory. At this time, the mother told her father that the second son of King Lee Wang went up to Seoul, so let's sell the farm fields and go to Seoul.
It was a time when I could buy a shabby house with a size of 3 to 40 pyeong in Seoul if I rearranged the country house. However, my father and grandfather were against it, so I couldn't come up. My mother still regrets it.
If I had bought a house and lived in Sanggye-dong at that time, wouldn't there have been a building there?
When I see the lives of the rich and poor people around me, it makes my heart ache even more.
The rich also live like the rich. Doesn't the rich make the rich more rich? Poor commoners pay monthly rent. on utility bills I live like this for the rest of my life and live like I'm dying We live in a really tough world.
The Bible introduces a woman. Parasitic. It means that a horse is a parasite, a woman who sells her body every day. It is still the case today, but it is the lowest level. A lonely life where people are not treated and married, and just die. Does this woman have a family?
But this woman had a family and became the family's glory.
Everyone in the heart and city died, but only this woman and her family survived, met Salmon, an Israelite, and married him, and bore him a son, whose name was Boaz.
According to the book of Ruth, Boaz was the richest man at the time and a faithful man of God. Not only that, they had a son and daughter-in-law, Ruth, and their great-grandson, David, the king of the Jews of Israel, was born.
Among those descendants, Jesus Christ, who will save mankind, will be born.
The most humble woman. a woman who was poor. A woman who had no family. It has become a family honor.
Everyone, why is my family like this? Why is my house so poor?
Do I really have to live like this? Do you not live day by day with this kind of thinking?
present reality)
As I meditated on these words, these words comforted me and gave me hope. me and my family. You and your family can definitely change. It gives us the assurance that we too can be the glory of the family. I pray that the words we shared today will be a great comfort and challenge for you and me.
First, the glory of the family begins with hearing.
It is said that there are two types of parasitism. poetry and song. It is said that there are people like Hwang Jin-i, who was good at calligraphy and painting and was revered as a scholar, and there are gisaengs who just sell their bodies and live with low regard. The prostitute Rahab in the text is a woman belonging to the second category.
One of the characteristics of parasitism is that when you meet a lot of people, you hear a lot of information. I met people like this and that. political diplomacy. neighbor's. next door. home. Children, you can even hear how many spoons and chopsticks you have. But most of them are obscene and closed-minded.
I think it's the same these days. It seems that this has not changed over the years.
Have you heard of "Now, let's talk for the future of Korea" when people gather? / Have you seen middle-aged women get together in a jjimjilbang and have a conversation on the topic of “Happy and Ideal Family Life”? Have you ever seen “discussed for successful human relations or regional development” at a place where you often meet?
Of course, there are times when religious words come out. But for the most part, it will be a hoax.
Rahab the prostitute must have heard these and other words countless times. But those words did not change him. Never, never impressed yourself.
By the way. There were words that changed him. “It Was About Jehovah God”
Read verses 8-10 of the main text)
1. How did you get out of Egypt?
2. How the Red Sea parted, and the great men came out as if walking on dry land.
3. What they did to the two kings of the Amorites, Sihon and Og, across the Jordan. I heard them. And I heard about the Lord God in heaven and earth who did all these things.
He says his heart melted and he lost his mind when he heard those words.
Romans 10:17 says. “Therefore, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”
By hearing the gospel of God, we can have faith, and by hearing it, we can also be changed. It made me think that I too can be saved. In the end, it is through hearing that you will have faith and be saved.
Faith growth begins with hearing. So it is better to listen twice than once, three times rather than twice. Listening to it four or ten times is good.
Our bodies are made to like things that are comfortable and easy. They tend to like things that are pleasurable and stimulating. The only way to overcome this physical tendency is to keep listening to the word of God. When we hear the word of God often, we have faith, we believe, and we are moved by faith.
yesterday yesterday. I met a person - I met him at a Chinese language school, but I met him again after 2 years.
I am afraid of evangelism - His testimony has been a Buddhist for over 40 years - Unknown disease 1 year and 6 months - Receiving Jesus / Happy now / My wish to become a Chinese lay missionary for my children / Thank you every moment /
= Share the Jesus you met in your life. They hear, have faith = help of the Holy Spirit / are saved.
We can hear it only when we preach it, and only when we hear it can we have faith, and we can be saved.
It is not the things of the world that change us, but only the Word of God.
Only the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ can change us and change us.
My self still remains because of the lack of hearing. It is because I do not hear the word of God that changes me more. We need to draw closer to the word of the Lord. Please believe in the fact that when you long to hear the word of the Lord, He changes you, your family, and your family.
Second, the glory of the family is given when we trust in God.
Joshua led two spies into the city of Jericho. However, there was a nearby bullet hole. The king of Jericho sends the spies to Rahab's house to find them. But Rahab had already noticed and hid the spies on the roof.
Rahab has to choose between two paths.
Will you choose a king? Will you choose God?
Will you choose the king you belong to, trust the king to enjoy wealth and glory, and win a reward?
Will you believe in God, who may be vague hopes and dreams, and trust Him?
The reason Rahab's conflict is bound to be great.
At that time, Jericho was an impregnable castle. Usually a single wall / Jericho is a double wall made of an inner wall and an outer wall. The inner wall is about 2 meters thick and the outer wall is 4 meters thick. / The space between the inner wall and the wall is 5 meters. Provision of space for soldiers / Jericho Fortress has a barrier of over 11 sites in total.
Who, with what technology, can destroy it?
No matter how mighty the Israeli soldiers may be, can they break this stone mountain? Rahab, who lives in this city, knew better than anyone.
If it were you, what choice do you think you would have made?
This choice is still in our lives today.
Is it real? are you mine? / Is this home? church? / Is it material? is it faith? /
Will you use it for me or give it to God? / Will you see the visible reality or the invisible vision? / Right now? Is it the faith that longs for the grace to be given?
This choice always changes the future.
Rahab did not see an impregnable city. It wasn't the king's bounty. It was God.
Despite the possibility of being captured and killed, of losing everything, and of Israel's failure, he chose God.
This was clearly Rahab's faith.
Faith comes from hearing, and this faith has made us completely trust in God.
It is God who causes death and it is God who gives life, so I will choose only God. He only entrusted his everything to God and devoted himself to it.
There was a farmer. The farmer always yelled at his friend.
“I will give my life for God because I love God. I will give it generously.” But looking at the life of that friend, it was different on the inside and different on the outside. words and actions are different.
So he quietly asked the farmer.
“I can only ask you one thing, that you would be so devoted to God. If God gives you twenty horses, are you prepared to give at least two of them to God?
Of course, if God gave you twenty pills, wouldn't it be just two of them? I am prepared to give four, not six, not even ten.
If God gave you ten cows, would you give one of them?
Is it only one? You can offer two or five.
I'll just ask you one more thing.
If God gave you ten pigs, could you offer one of them?
Angry the farmer.
“No, how did you know I had ten pigs? Whether I sacrifice one or not, it is my heart, so please do not talk about it as if asking questions again and again.”
Abstract commitments are possible.
If given in the future, you can do whatever you want. But belief is not an idea.
It can never change us.
If we truly believe and love Jehovah God,
And if you have heard everything the Lord has promised, you must make a concrete dedication in faith.
You must fully believe and believe in God.
You must trust Him for everything.
Those who believe and obey will never perish or die.
Even if others die, I live. Even if people who depend on the world's environmental materials perish, I will not.
You can be the glory of the family.
Castles, homes, and materials like Jericho that God did not protect will inevitably collapse.
The saints that God protects are families. You will get a job, material, and glory.
Believe and choose God. Believe and dedicate yourself to God.
