Title: Famine in Abundance (Amos 08:11-14)
Content There has never been a time when our country was as prosperous as today. We live in a world where we can have and do whatever we want. But come to think of it, I have never been so poor again. This is because the emptiness and loneliness that cannot be filled with anything is increasing day by day. The Church must listen to the lamentations of despair and suffering that are heard in that abundance today. Because it is the mission of the church to provide a stream of life to their thirst. Nevertheless, why do our churches feel so helpless today? What is the cause of the spiritual famine that is prevalent in our society today and the helplessness of the church in response to it, and what is the solution?
First, the problem is the hunger of the Word (verse 11).
God created this world with words. So the rule of human life is only the Word. But now that this word has disappeared, only perishable material and desire remain on this earth, causing spiritual famine.
Second, the reason the Word disappeared is idolatry (verse 14).
People now began to worship the material they made rather than God, and even the church was influenced by humanism, which prioritizes human affairs over God's word. This means that we have now declared that the Word is no longer needed.
Third, we must now return to the Word.
When the rain stops, it's tolerable. It means that it is inevitable that the word of God is no longer accepted in the world. But now, even the reservoir is in danger of drying out, which is a problem. It means that the reservoir of the Word is running out of Word. Now, we must take responsibility for this famine and be a watershed. And it means that we need to supply the water of life of this word to the world again.
Beloved saints of Bethel! We cannot just look at the terrible phenomena of the world we see today and lament. In the name of the Lord, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become saints who fill our lives with the word of God's birth and death more diligently to solve the famine in the midst of abundance, the cause of all suffering in this world.
