Meditation: I want to live while observing the Lord about what the five kings of the Amorites are hiding within me.
Text: “Joshua and the children of Israel slaughtered them with a great slaughter and almost destroyed them, and the rest of them went into strong cities… ” (Joshua 10:16-21)
Word: Joshua and the people of Israel were taking over the Gentiles in the land of Canaan. It is as if we are conquering our enemies in our religious life.
When the Amorites were captured, the five kings of the Amorites fled. The war was not over unless the king was captured.
Finally, the Israelites found the cave where the Amorite kings were hiding. Just as it is easy to solve the problem once you know the problem, their war will end when only the kings are killed.
When the Israelites found the kings, they first blocked the cave gates so they could not escape. And at the right time, he opened the door, stole the five kings to death, and put them back into the cave, closing the door.
So let's see what the lesson of the text is. It is to apply this warfare process to our religious life.
First of all, it is important to discover the obstacles to victory in the life of faith. What are the five Amorite kings lurking in our hearts? You must discover the causes that hold back your spiritual growth, such as hatred of blood, feelings of inferiority, pride, disobedience, self-trust, and love of the world.
After that, you must bring the five kings-like beings to God in concrete terms, and trample them down. Rather, our enemies seek to trample us. It is our hope that we will stumble over pride and blood. But rather than being trampled on, God wants us to become the subjects and cut off all the links.
Finally, just as the five kings of the Amorites were imprisoned in a cave, our sinful nature must be completely sealed. This is the secret to spiritual maturity and victory in our faith.
Today, I hope you will discover the existence of us who died on the cross with Jesus Christ in the Word. I pray that you will become victorious Christians so that your sins will not be repeated any more.
Prayer: Lord of love, help me to give up my hidden sinful nature to God and make a decision not to reconcile again. So, help me to live a victorious life without stumbling in faith. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
