Title: Feast of Tabernacles/John 7:1-9

Content Title: Feast of Tabernacles

Bible: John 7:1-9

<Introduction>

In today's text verse 3, we see that Jesus in Galilee, the brothers in the flesh, come to us and ask that He go up to Judea and perform a miracle.

But Jesus refused and later went up to Judea.

He climbs up and hides himself without revealing himself, then enters the temple in the middle of the feast, reveals himself and begins to argue.

Why in understanding this chapter 7? Chapter 7 begins like this, and why did Jesus? At first he refused to go to Judea, but later no one went secretly?

It is important to first check whether he did it secretly without revealing himself even when he went there.

The text we read today reads like this: Let's look at 7:3-4.

“Then his brothers said to Jesus, “Leave here and go to Judea, so that the disciples may see what you are doing, and beseech yourself,

There is no one who works under the hood. If you wish to do this work, you must

Show it to the world."

Then Jesus said this: "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready... Go up to the feast, I will not go up to this feast, for my time is not yet fulfilled...

After his brothers went up, he also went up, but he did it in secret, not revealing it...

It was already halfway through the feast, and Jesus went up to the temple to teach. The Jews marveled and said, "How does this man understand writing, since he has not studied?"

Here, the fundamental principle we must remember when reading the Bible is why the Bible

Did you record those words? is to do

What is the intention, and what is conveyed to us by writing the story?

Did you record those words? It should be remembered that

Furthermore, why did Jesus Himself? Did you have to do something like that?

should be able to understand

Why is Jesus in John 7? Did you say that you can't go to Judea even if it's late? This is the primary refusal to come up to Jerusalem and see Jesus and prove yourself.

But why later? did you go up? It's not for self-proof

It was because he had to ascend to accomplish God's will.

Jesus went up to Jerusalem now to keep the Feast of Tabernacles, not to prove himself.

This is because, as I said a while ago, he did not come into this world to prove that he is a transcendent, not a human.

Obviously, this is not the one who came to do his will, but the will of the one who sent him.

It means that He came and came to fulfill His will.

He is the one who finally said 'It is finished' when he died on a tree.

He came to do it, not to prove himself.

But now, what the brothers of Jesus are asking for is a test to prove that Jesus is different from others. Of course you refused.

But Jesus came to Jerusalem.

The reason was to actively do the work entrusted to him rather than to overcome the test. What is the task entrusted to him? It was to bring to life the souls his father had sent him.

He came to Jerusalem on the Feast of Tabernacles for that purpose.

Let's take a look at what the Feast of Tabernacles is and the Feast of Tabernacles.

The Feast of Tabernacles is the last feast after the Passover and Pentecost, the three great feasts of Israel.

After the harvest is over, I have to make a hut in the field and spend 7 days there.

This is to realize the promise that God will keep in the wilderness and will keep it in the future, and in particular, there was a bountiful harvest by God's grace, and this promise is to be remembered from generation to generation.

So this fruit was not obtained by sowing what I had, but I

It is to make a feast as a distinction for allowing the fruits to accumulate in this way, even though they are not qualified.

In other words, when you go to the result, you have to look at the beginning again.

What you have now is the story that you did not make, did not begin, and did not increase what was there.

So we go back to the Feast of Tabernacles.

The reason for keeping the Feast of Tabernacles as shown in Leviticus 23 is

“To remind you that you have come all the way from Egypt.”

Then, what are you checking for while keeping the feasts like this?

How should God accomplish the salvation he began?

The gospels focus on these two things, trying to cut off the blessings we received after we were saved together with what we thought we might have received because we were something different from others.

The Gospel of John is recorded with all the focus on this.

Let's look at John 20:30-31.

“Jesus performed many other signs before his disciples that were not written in this book, but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that you believe

that he might have eternal life through his name."

We are living people because we know and believe this.

Salvation is by grace.

Therefore, this requirement of faith is not presented as a condition for selection. That's why John 1:12-13 says, "To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were not born of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." .

We are not happy to come and sit in this seat out of prosperity, by the will of the flesh, or by the will of man.

no. I am here by the grace of God.

One day, we decided to believe and believed in Jesus. 'Yes, I believe, my main

I will serve you.” But while talking like this, because of what

I don't know if I was able to decide.

Look back. I went to church from Sunday school, and when I prayed, I received answers in many ways.

It is not because you are different from other people.

Remember the Feast of Tabernacles! Keep it as a feast for generations! You were a slave from Egypt.

In order to do that, he is telling us to keep this feast. In retrospect, it is grace,

This is what I enjoyed because of what God was planning. to Canaan

It took a long time. However, please check once again whether you have really entered Canaan. As long as we do not feel and accept the true meaning of the Feast of Tabernacles, we are still

It means you don't know the meaning.

As the one who commanded the feast, God sent Jesus to complete the Feast of Tabernacles.

you said So, Jesus is going up to the Feast of Tabernacles. what needs to be accomplished

And because Jesus came to accomplish that, Jesus had to go up.

Never for bragging. How many people will come up to the Feast of Tabernacles, and I will

Are you bragging that you are somehow different from others? But Jesus went up in hiding. This is the gist of today's important text.

We can also find this record in Matthew 5:17-18.

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish it, but to complete it.

Then, are the laws and commandments required here given to us to obey?

That's right too.

But based on the words we shared today, if we go one step further,

It is a declaration that the giver of the law has hidden commitment, plans, and intentions to fulfill the differences that we cannot keep because we are lacking in order to fulfill the law.

"Love the Lord your God!" But Ura did not love the Lord. love you

This law will not disappear until heaven and earth pass away, even by one jot or one tittle.

It is at this point in time that we hear the word of God and go to receive comfort.

What we see is always our infinitely lacking self.

A believer who does not feel lacking is not a true believer.

The shortcomings arise because they are based on themselves.

Beyond that, not what I have, but what the Father has for me.

God's grace and mercy and His everlasting love now through Jesus Christ

He has already started for me, is doing it now, and will do it in the future.

When we are properly aware of what we are, we will be able to stand confidently again.

Therefore, whenever we fall on our knees before God, we are desperate to see how miserable our life is, and at the same time, at the same time, the Father is helping us through us at that very moment.

Realizing that what you want to accomplish is done through grace,

It will come back with excitement.

So even when we cry, sometimes we laugh.

That is the natural result of meeting the true Word as a believer.

Dear saints, please remember that you are in the hands of God.

Also, remember that God never looses his hand.

We do not know whether we are celebrating the Passover or going through the wilderness by now.

Some people may be keeping the Feast of Tabernacles.

But there is nothing incomparable between man and man,

He did not make anything he had, nor did he build it on the land where he was.

But the feeling of despair that we have nothing now frustrates us.

You can't drag it to your seat. Because after all, they were the ones who had neither my house nor my land. And because all of this is God's work.

Therefore, through these words, there is a profound surrender, a feeling of fullness, gratitude, and a greater thirst for His plan in your life to God's deep plan for eternity and to his almighty power. I pray in the name of the Lord that it will bear fruit in your heart.
