Title: Fig Tree
Contents
▷ While receiving the Hosanna hymns, Jesus entered Jerusalem and looked around everything. At sunset, he took his disciples out of the city and entered Bethany. The next day, when he came out of Bethany, he was hungry. He saw a fig tree and wanted to get fruit. The fig tree had nothing but leaves. This was not the time for figs. Jesus said to the tree. “From now on, no one will eat of you from any fruit.”
▷ This fig tree refers to the people of Israel who believed in God at that time. It is to revuke and warn the Israelites for failing to bear fruit before God. If it does not bear fruit, the nation and people will suffer the wrath of God and perish.
▷ The Israelites were very proud of being God's chosen people. I was saved in Egypt with God's help. We were led to the promised land of Canaan. You can say that he planted a fig tree. They have the Word of God given through Moses. There is also the holy city, Jerusalem, where God dwells. But more than any other nation, there was no fruit that was beautiful and glorious in the sight of God. In a slang word, it looked good on the outside, but the inside was filthy, dirty, and rotten and smelled badly.
▷ This result is because they did not bear the fruit worthy of repentance. Repentance can be said to be like a flower. Without flowers, there are no fruits. Repentance is a more beautiful flower than a beautiful flower. That magnificent Jerusalem failed to bear the fruit of repentance and eventually fell down. The loss of life and material damage is enormous. God sent a Roman general named Titus and his army to destroy Jerusalem with no stone left on it. Even now, there is one wall that has been destroyed and is called the 'Wailing Wall'.
▷ How much is the church calling for or teaching repentance today? Are you afraid of people, so you don't just make people feel comfortable? Or do you hate hearing God's word to repent?
▷ If we bear the fruit worthy of repentance, we will be filled with the Holy Spirit of God and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit as the words of Galatians 5 say. The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
▷ Therefore, while we pray, we must examine ourselves more than anything else, find out the things that do not live according to the Word of God, and repent.
