Fight your Amalekites (Exodus 17:8-16)
If we, as believers, open our spiritual eyes while living in faith, we can see that the forces of darkness that cannot be overcome by our human strength are at work in our individual, family, society, and nation. You can see that this power is not only working in our time, but also working in our ancestors, even our descendants. So that's what makes us fail, get sick, unhappy, and fall from generation to generation. So we have to fight that force. it in the bible
In today's text, it is called the Amalekites. [Exodus 17:9] "Moses said to Joshua, "Choose men for us, and go out and fight against Amalek; tomorrow I will stand on the top of the mountain, with the staff of God in my hand." [Exodus 17:16] "The LORD has sworn. The Lord said that he will fight against Amalek from generation to generation." God commanded us to fight against Amalek from generation to generation, and God said that he would fight with Amalek from generation to generation.
So, what kind of tribe are the Amalekites in the Bible? He is a descendant of Esau. [Genesis 36:12] "Timnah, the concubine of Esau's son Eliphaz, bore Amalek to Eliphaz, the descendants of Esau's wife Ada." They are the most evil and cunning Gentiles. In the Bible, the Amalekites are represented as symbols of the forces of darkness working behind us.
By examining what kind of tribe this Amalekite is, we can know the power of our darkness.
First, the Amalekites are "a people of the valley". That is why we can't know it from the outside as it works hidden within us.
Second, Amalek works when he is resting when he is doing well, but also works when he is falling behind because of lack of strength. [Deuteronomy 25:18] “They did not fear God, but met you on the road, and I was weary and struck the weak who fell behind you.” Therefore, the saints must be in their ranks. Those who do it on their own are more likely to fail. Humans aren't great enough to figure it out. Therefore, it is a blessing to be in the ranks.
Third, Amalek works from generation to generation, making people difficult and failing.
Fourth, the power of Amalek dwells in the lusts of the flesh.
Here's how to fight and win.
(1) Amalek is not an object of reconciliation, but of war.
If the sinner repents, forgiveness is possible, but the forces that caused the sin must be defeated. In other words, it is necessary to distinguish between those who commit sin and the forces that cause them to sin. A person forgives, but the power of sin working in that person must fight to the point of bloodshed. Satan is the object of war. '...I will blot out Amalek from the underworld.' (Exodus 17:14) - Until Amalek's seed is dried up, we must fight so that there is no memory.
(2) Amalek is a spiritual battle, not a physical battle.
'Joshua did as Moses said and fought against Amalek. Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the mountain. When Moses raised his hand, Israel prevailed; and when Moses lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. It's not about winning. Of course, perseverance and skill are good, but that's not a win condition. We won the battle because God worked.
(3) God must fight Amalek, not man's battle.
'Moses said to Joshua, "Choose men for us, and go out and fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the mountain with the staff of God in my hand" (Exodus 17:9). They said they will fight for generations to come.” (Exodus 17:16) When Moses raised his hand, God fought. Raising your hands means praying. When we raise our hands before God, God fights. He gives us victory when we raise our hands and pray to the Lord. Jehovah Nissi, let us raise the banner of victory. May the battle against the Amalekites within us be victorious.
Hallelujah!
