Title: Filial piety / Ephesians 6:1-3
Content Filial piety / Ephesians 6:1-3
Respect for parents is not just for Mother's Day, but also for Family Month. As usual, you should continue to do well. We would like to look at some of the reasons to honor one's parents in the Bible text.
1) It must be the right thing to do.
Verse 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Right means right is a just thing. It means what you ought to do.
Verse 2 is the first commandment with a promise.
The fifth commandment of the Ten Commandments is honor your parents. If you divide the Ten Commandments into two, 1-4 are for God and 5-10 are for man. The first of these is to honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise.
Verse 3 says that it will be well with you and you will live a long life.
Everyone! Is there anyone who doesn't want to be well? There will be no one. I want everything to go well. But if you really want to be successful, you must first honor your parents. Those who have no parents should honor the old.
And if you want to live a long life, respect your parents.
In order to teach children how to respect their parents, they must also teach them to buy gifts, even by giving them pocket money. If you say that you buy gifts for mom and dad just to save money, if you say quitting because you don't have money, you do it later.
Leave the tube. Make it a habit to give gifts without giving up.
In the Bible, there are many people who have been blessed by being filial to their parents. I would like to introduce some of them.
1, Jacob did what his mother said and received the blessing of becoming a patriarch.
Jacob always regretted not being the eldest son, but his mother taught him the secret to being blessed. I told my father to make a delicacy and bring it with me.
As his mother had told him, Jacob slaughtered a goat, cooked it, gave it to his father, ate it deliciously, and blessed him.
We sometimes ignore our parents because we are spoiled and immature, and we think of them as ignorant. But our parents are more experienced than us.
2, Joseph obeyed his father to the end and became prime minister.
Joseph was his father's favorite son. He did his father's errands well.
In Genesis 37:13, the father sent an errand to go to the four brothers in Shechem. Then yes, I will go. and went to Shechem, but the brothers were gone. Then you can just come back, but Joseph didn't just come back. He went up to Dothan to find the uds, met him, and reported it to his father.
3, King Saul also obeyed his father's word and became king.
Saul's father, Kish, had lost his donkey and ordered him to find it. At that time, Saul did not complain or complain at all. He searched all the areas of the hill country of Ephraim, Sali, and the tribe of Benjamin, but couldn't find a donkey, so he even went to inquire of the prophet. He is such an obedient person. That was an opportunity to become the first king of Israel.
4, the same goes for David.
5, Introducing Samuel.
Samuel obeyed his mother's words and became a judge and prophet in Israel.
As soon as Samuel was weaned, he followed his mother to the sanctuary. The mother asked Samuel. You are the child you decided to dedicate to God.
How sad would that be? How resentful would your mother be?
I'm sorry that my doctor doesn't ask me to do my own thing, am I his own property? You can grumble and run away.
But Samuel did not depart. I didn't become a runaway boy.
He obeyed his mother to the end. He was a filial person.
As a result, he eventually succeeded Eli as judge of Israel. He became an outstanding prophet.
Dear saints,
Even now, God delights in people with the most filial piety, and God listens to them.
So, how do you honor your parents? It's not that I didn't know how to do it, but I'll teach you again.
1, Obedience is filial piety. One
Obedience is listening. To attend, to respond when knocking on the door.
This model of obedience is the childhood of the prophet Samuel. Do you wake up and call when you hear a call in the middle of the night? and went looking for it.
God picked up Samuel, who was so obedient.
Leviticus 19:32 Therefore, stand up before the gray hair, and honor the face of the old man, and honor your God.
