filial piety of the believer
(2009.05.10. Mother's Day) (Ephesians 6:1~3)
There are 10 most basic commandments that believers must keep. - The Ten Commandments.
In the Ten Commandments, there is a doctrine toward God first, and then a doctrine toward people.
The 1st to 4th commandments are the principles to be obeyed by God, and the 5th to 10th commandments are the principles to be observed among people.
*The first commandment among the commandments to keep with God is - “You shall not call anything other than God a god.”
* Among the commandments that must be obeyed, the first commandment is - “Honor your father and mother.”
*If you serve as a god other than God, the first commandment of the heavenly world, you are not a believer.
*If you do not fulfill the first commandment, filial piety, you cannot speak of humanity and morality.
*The first commandment of the heavenly world - Please believe only in God.
*The first commandment of humanity - Please be filial to your parents.
May is Family Month - The second Sunday is set as Mother's Day and we keep it - What should we do to our parents as filial piety?
1. We must obey in the Lord.
(6:1) - “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right” - Amen !!
If you do not obey in the Lord, you are not filial piety. - It is right to obey in the Lord - Filial piety.
One of the many stories I heard as a child is the story of a tree frog.
*The little tree frog did not listen to the mother tree frog very much - If you go to the mountains, you go to the water, if you go to the water, you go to the mountains, - Are you obedient? Are you disobedient? - The tree frog committed the first sin of disobedience.
*The mother, who was worried about the cub who did the opposite - said, "If I die, bury the body in the river" - Finally the cub buried its mother's body in the river - Is it purebred? Are you disobedient? - You obeyed? - Did you do well? Did I do something wrong? - That's bad. - What's wrong? - It is the fault of obeying what should not be obeyed. - When it rained heavily, the body was washed away. - Second, he committed the sin of wrong obedience. - So even now, when it comes to obesity, the frog cries and cries.
(Proverbs 30:17) - "The eyes of those who ridicule their fathers and do not want to obey their mothers will be pecked out by ravens of the valley and eaten by eagles."
Disobedience to parents is a sin comparable to disobedience to God.
① Please obey in the Lord.
When parents of faith teach in faith, obey in the Lord by faith - this is the right thing to do.
Moses, son who inherited faith from Jochebed, a believer, Samuel, son who inherited faith from Hannah, a believer, and Timothy, who inherited faith from Eunice, a believer - These are believers who made their parents happy by filial piety through obedience.
② You must not obey even things that are against the will of the Lord.
The tree frog - should not have listened to the will to "bury the body by the river". - Because it was an incorrect instruction.
*Is obedience to parents who prevent them from living a religious life - filial piety? Is it invalid? - Such obedience is invalid.
(Luke 16:27-28) - "Then he said, "Father, I beg you, send Lazarus to my father's house, and I have five brothers, so let them bear witness, so that they do not come to this place of torment." - Those who went to hell Will this - in Hell wait for his family to fall to Hell? - No - A person who has gone to Hell suffers from Hell so badly - He doesn't want other family members to go to Hell either.
*No matter how unbelievers go to hell - even your children will suffer even more if they fall into hell.
Even children who believe in God well and go to heaven are filial piety, not filial piety. - Do you believe it?
*Let's obey our parents, let's obey in faith, understand and evangelize if it goes against our faith - Amen !!
2. Respect without conditions.
Obedience and respect are different. - Obedience is a prerequisite for being in the Lord and in faith.
But there are no prerequisites for honoring your parents. - You must respect it unconditionally.
How do you honor it?
① Parents should not be taken lightly.
*(Proverbs 23:22) - “Be obedient to your father who gave birth to you, and do not despise your old mother.”
To respect is to take it lightly, and to take it lightly is the opposite of respect.
Taking your parents lightly is a sin - you should never take your parents lightly.
②You have to make your parents happy.
*(Proverbs 23:25) - “Make your father and mother happy, and the mother who gave birth to you.” - He said.
Don't anger or worry your parents - please make them happy.
It makes parents happy when their children do well.
Children are cute, and when they sleep well, their parents are happy. When students study hard, their parents are happy.
Grown-up children form a harmonious family, and if they live well, their parents will be happy.
We want our children to be proud of their parents.
③ Please respectfully.
(Ephesians 6:2) - “Honor your father and mother, for these are the first commandments with a promise”
(Exodus 20:12) - “Honor your father and mother, that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”
*It is very natural not to belittle your parents.
* Making your parents happy is a passive filial piety.
* True filial piety is to go one step further and actively respect. - To take good care of you is to respect you. It is an honor to see you often. Giving generously is an honorable thing.
Believers should not be passive filial piety - they should actively respect and filially filial children.
3. The filial son is blessed in this world.
Serving God well is a blessing on earth and in heaven.
Please believe that children who are filial to their physical parents while they live in this world will receive the blessings of the world while they live in this world.
(6:3) - “In this way it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
*Please believe that God will bless the children who want to be filial to their parents so that they do well on this earth. - Don't you want to be filial to your parents only when your children do well? - I believe that God will bless you so that you can filially filially.
Good health to filial piety, money to filial piety - God will give you - Do filial piety and receive blessings, I wish you good luck in the world.
*I believe that it will prolong the lives of children who are to be filial to their parents. - I don't know about other people's families - I saw my parents - Uncle, father, and uncle - There were three brothers - My father in the middle took care of them - Of the three brothers, my father lived the longest, and my mother lived the longest. there is - In this case, it's okay to applaud...... - So I'm going to be filial too.......
Beloved saints, filial piety to parents is the second most precious thing after being loyal to God.
Please do your best to be filial to your parents.
If it does not go against your faith, please obey your parents. If something goes against your faith, please understand it well so that you do not get angry and do filial piety with faith.
Actively honor your parents both physically and mentally - I wish you the best of luck while living on the earth and for a long and healthy life.
I pray that you will make your parents happy, that you will be blessed, and that you will set an example of filial piety for your children.
