Find Jesus Now! 2003/02/02 Children's Church School Sermon 5

Text Luke 2:49

(Luke 2:49) Jesus said to him, "Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"

My friends, did you have a good Lunar New Year holiday? I think many of my friends couldn't come to my grandparents' house because the weekend was the last for this Lunar New Year holiday. Still, I hope that God's grace will be with our friends who came here to keep Sunday.

Even when Jesus was young with our friends, there was a festival. Every year for the Passover, all the Jews go to Jerusalem. Just as we always go to greet adults on holidays, even when the car is pushed and hard, when Jesus was 12 years old, he and his parents left for Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. And when I came back from the holidays there were so many people, my parents thought, 'You must be among those people, huh~'. Then a day passes and they look for Jesus, but no matter how much they search, they cannot find him. So I passed through the crowds and came back to Jerusalem. In the end, it took three days to meet Jesus in the temple.

1. What we need to think about here is that we too, like Jesus' parents, think, 'I must be one of those people, what? If you do not make an effort, if you do not try to find Jesus in your life, you will lose Jesus just like Jesus' parents.

Proverbs 8:17 says, “I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.” If you look at the Bible, which is more easily interpreted, it means, “I love those who love me, and I find those who seek me earnestly.” easy to understand?

If Jesus' parents had searched for him without thinking, 'It must be among those people,' they would not have wasted three days to find Jesus again. If you think, ‘Jesus will always be with me, huh~’ and then lose Jesus, it takes three times as much effort to meet Jesus again. That is, if time passes without making an effort to meet Jesus every day, it takes more effort and time than the first time to restore your first love with Jesus and meet Jesus again.

I hope that our Daesung Church friends will be friends who can have fellowship with Jesus every day. So, I hope that the time of grace that Jesus gave me and the heart at that time will not cool down in our hearts.

Jesus' parents were able to meet Jesus again after spending three days like this. So Jesus' parents said, "Do you know how troubled we were to find you? Why did you do this?” he rebukes. Then Jesus said to his parents

“Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” he answers. Joseph and Mary tilt their heads not knowing what they mean, and Jesus tells them that they returned to their hometown with their parents and obeyed them.

2. Here we are going to look at the words of Jesus. At this time, Jesus was only 12 years old. So Joseph and Mary had in their minds the strange stories they had heard from birth, but they were still young, so they may have thought it was not the time. But it was not Jesus. “I'm in my Father's house” Jesus had not yet begun the sure work of God, but he knew who he was and what he had to do. So, from a young age, I was able to call God my Father and walked with God. He knew he would have to be in Heavenly Father's house. I knew I had to do God's work. It is clearly shown in John 8:26, “He who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him.”

And Jesus taught us, “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7).

When we are in Jesus and Jesus is in us, we can know what we must do for God and experience our prayers being answered. In order for us to be in Jesus and Jesus to be in us, we must seek Jesus. I must diligently seek Jesus so that I do not become distant from him. We can meet Jesus through prayer, but we can also meet Jesus through the Word. When you earnestly seek Jesus through prayer and the words of Jesus live in your heart and meet something, you must be able to remember the words of Jesus. That's how you should read it.

Our Daesung Church friends! Do you want to meet Jesus? If so, pray diligently and diligently read the Word. This year, I hope that all of our Daesung Church friends will have the experience of meeting Jesus through the Word through prayer. I will pray.
