Title: Finding Happiness (Matthew 5:1~3)

Finding happiness (Matthew 5:1~3)

“The whole world is madly looking for happiness.” The former Harvard president defines a person in one word.

One day, a man came to a psychiatrist who was consulting and asked:

“Sir, I am living my life in loneliness and despair.

How can I live happily?

The doctor thought deeply, and gave advice like this.

Mister, do you know that Dongchun Circus?

If you go there, there is Pierrot.

Go find the person who always smiles, the Pierrot who makes even those in despair laugh.

Then you will be able to live life with a smile.

and answered.

Then the patient said,

Teacher, I am that Pierrot.”

As the man who became an oil millionaire in Texas once said:

“I thought money could buy happiness.

So I made a lot of money, and although I got a lot of laughs with that money, there was no real joy.

This time, it is the confession of a movie star.

I have money

There is beauty,

There is also charm

It is also popular

No matter what anyone says, I must be the happiest woman in the world.

But me, I'm so depressed right now.

Why?”

Where is this wrong fear?

Lewis said:

“People’s delight is an important work of heaven”

Mother Teresa said, “Real holiness is doing the will of God with a smile.”

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.”

The reason people can't find happiness is because they find it in the wrong place.

.Those who seek happiness through material things are always and endlessly searching for happiness.

.Knowledge accumulates as you accumulate it.

The problem is that that knowledge makes me more suspicious, and always makes me seem less wise.

.When you are financially stable, it is strange. From then on, I don't know if life, or anything else, is getting boring.

Are you satisfied now?

Today, I want to give you happiness that no one else can take away.

Through this sermon today, I hope that you will be filled with happiness that is not taken away by anything.

I also went to places where so-called rich people gather to escape the summer heat.

There I saw that wealth can paralyze a person.

As the Lord said, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Do you know why?

Because material things have taken over people's hearts, they don't feel the need for spirituality.

Rich man, money is a good thing. It's not wrong at all.

Many people use their wealth to help others.

But riches make them forsake God,

There are a lot of people who are so easily controlled by wealth.

Therefore, 1 Timothy 6:9-10 says, “Those who want to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into ruin and destruction. The love of money is the root of all evil.”

Look at Solomon!

I tried everything.

his possession,

music,

association,

large building works,

Wisdom that no one else can match,

All! I had.

But in Ecclesiastes 1:14, the end of his life, he said, “I have seen all that is done under the sun. Behold, all are vanity, a chasing after the wind.”

Who will be happy?

Let's look at verse 3.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit”

The poor in spirit are happy. The word "bless" here means to be happy.

People have desires.

craving for food,

craving for drink,

desire for fellowship,

This desire has been given to us by God, so it should be used according to God's request, but this is not the case.

So people are sad,

Doom is coming.

Also, humans have a need for the soul as well as a need for the body.

This is called the desire for God.

reconcile with God,

fellowship with God,

It is to enjoy peace and satisfaction while doing the work of the Lord.

However, we are only zealous for the body and material things, and we are not very interested in nourishing the soul.

Life always leans in one direction.

You also need to do fitness.

I also exercise

I also need to go on a diet.

You have to spend money and time to do this.

But we must not forget that the soul is more important than the body.

The Apostle Paul also said in 1 Timothy 4:7-8, “There is little benefit to physical training, but the practice leading to godliness is useful in all things.

The first step towards peace and satisfaction,

Real happiness is to feel that you are poor in spirit.

If you are poor in spirit, it's not about how much you have in the world,

longing for the kingdom of God,

It makes me look back on whether I really live the way Jesus pleases.

When you sleep in the evening,

Lord, I did not live the life that you are pleased with today. have pity on me

Lord, I am a sinner.

I'm in tears.

But even a few tears like this change me, and this is what it means to be poor in spirit.

feel your weakness,

Even when he forsakes his sins,

When I come before the Lord and tell all my shortcomings, it means that I am ‘poor in spirit’.

The kingdom of God does not depend on money or knowledge.

poor in spirit,

Think of God first in everything,

God's mission is just full of joy,

In difficult times, I consult with the Lord,

Even though it was all I could do, I consulted with the Lord,

Living with the belief that the blood of Jesus' cross gives me strength and courage is to be poor in spirit and possess the kingdom of God.

Remember Mother Teresa.

“Real happiness is doing God’s work with a smile”

I pray that you are poor in spirit, and that you become a happy person.
