Content 15. The finger of God (Daniel 5:5-6)
◈ Proposition: The finger of God is its power and gift.
◈ Purpose: To have God-fearing faith
◈ Introduction: God's finger is still at work. The finger that created heaven and earth sometimes appears as a history of blessing and sometimes as a history of curse.
1. The meaning of God's finger
A. The finger of God means the power of God.
1. It means the power of God. (Exodus 8:19)
2. It is the power to save us. (Psalm 118:15-16)
3. He is the power to bring judgment and calamity (Exodus 8:19, 9:4,15).
B. God's finger signifies God's work.
1. He spoke of God's creative work (Psalm 8:3).
2. The finger of God means His work.
3. God's finger is still working with us.
C. The finger of God means teaching and guiding.
1. God's finger wrote the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 31:18).
2. Jesus wrote with his finger on the ground (John 8:7).
3. God's finger is still on our hearts.
2. When God's Finger of Judgment Appears
A. It appeared at that time. When is that time?
1. When Belshazzar was proud before God.
2. It is when we fall into the sin of exceeding the limit.
3. It is time to blaspheme God and serve idols.
B. The finger of God's judgment is revealed when the limit is exceeded.
1. When you ignore God and have a proud heart
2. It is time to fully return before God.
3. It is time to listen to God's voice.
C. Let us repent before God's finger of judgment appears.
1. Wasn't life lazy before God?
2. Isn't it time to stand up straight before God?
3. When does God's teaching finger appear?
A. When God's Finger Is Afraid
1. Why were you so afraid when God's finger appeared on the wall?
2. Because the finger worked on their conscience.
3. The same is true of the accusers who saw Jesus' finger and left. (John 8:8-9)
4. All changes in the environment fearen the conscience.
B. When the finger of the Lord rejoices
1. When you stand right before God (Psalm 92:4-5)
2. It is comfort and peace for us.
3. Recognizing the word of the Lord and being transformed (Psalm 119:73-74)
C. How are we?
1. Are you afraid of God's hand?
2. Or are you rejoicing in God's hand?
3. Let's become saints who rejoice and wait for God's hand.
Conclusion: God's finger continues to work on us. Let the hand of God be the finger of joy, not the hand of fear.
