Title: First Test/Matthew 4:1-4
Content I. Tests from the Devil (1-2)
When Jesus was hungry after 40 days of fasting, the devil came and tried him. He tempted them to turn stones into bread. It was a test that came when the stones looked like rice cakes.
It is a time when the desire to eat is full. It is a time when my thoughts take precedence over the will of God. This is a time when judgment and discernment are lost and it is easy to rush to work. It is a time when we become infinitely weak and weak and easily fall into temptation.
The devil tests us with this most pressing problem. It tempts us with reasonable and realistically valid words, saying that we should eat when we are hungry.
II. Test Through Doubt(3))
When the devil tempted Jesus, he tried to bring him down through doubt. When he first tried Jesus, he told him to turn stones into bread if you are the Son of God.
If you cannot turn stones into bread, then you are not the son of God. In order to tempt them, they make you doubt that you are the Son of God. Not only on the first test, but also on the cross, the devil tempts you to save yourself and come down from the cross if you are the Son of God. It is the devil's technique to distrust God.
Doubt, along with despair, is a higher-level strategy used by the devil.
Ⅲ. Trial to win (4)
The devil tempted Jesus with the problem of bread in order to destroy him. Even today, the devil says that we can only live on bread to tempt us and tempt us.
When we say that we can only live by bread, the meaning of this word assumes that we must live by bread. Money and material represented by rice cakes are unavoidable things we humans live in the world anyway. However, you must not live for bread alone. We must not live a life in which bread precedes God.
Like Jesus, man must not live by bread alone, but must live by the word of God. We must overcome temptation with the word.
