Sermon Text I Genesis 6:1-3 When men began to multiply on the earth, daughters were born to them.
And when the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, they took wives of all they liked.
My spirit will not dwell with men forever, says the LORD, for they are made flesh, but their days shall be one hundred and twenty years.
Sermon content
When God saw that sin was rampant in the world, he gave them 120 years and judged them with a flood.
The windows of heaven opened and the fountains of the great deep burst, and it rained continuously for 40 days and 40 nights, and all the high mountains on the earth were flooded. Except for Noah's family of 8, all people on the earth and all living creatures that breathe were destroyed.
Noah and his family stayed in the ark for nearly a year, and when the water cleared the ground, they got out of the ark and offered burnt offerings to God first. God made a covenant and promised never to destroy all living things with a flood again, and showed a rainbow as a proof of that.
Lesson
1. The cause of the flood judgment 1) The sons of God lived without distinction.
The cause of destruction is that the sons of God did not live separately from the unbelievers. An example of this is taking the daughters of men. The saints who became sons of God who were created for God's purpose are different from unbelievers in their purpose, hope, means, and rules of life.
2) Egocentric, self-centered evil.
God-centered A person who lives only according to God's will and should be raised as a clean, holy, and perfect person according to God's purpose is to marry and live according to his own heart.
2. The days of the Son of Man are the same as in the days of Noah.
Today's age is the age of corruption just like the days of Noah (Matthew 24:37-39).
Just as Jesus judged by the flood in the days of Noah, He said that when Jesus comes again, He will judge by fire.
To prepare for the judgment of fire (2 Peter 3:11-13),
1) You must have holy deeds.
Holiness is distinction. We are believers in Jesus Christ, children of God,
He will inherit all things in heaven and on earth.
Putting on the ransom of Jesus and making use of all things and the elect as objects of God's hope,
You must have a set of deeds as those who prepare for eternal life in the stranger world.
2) Be reverent.
Godliness is to become God's, and to live for God and according to God's will.
Noah came out of the ark and was the first to offer burnt offerings to God.
God was pleased with the burnt offering, relieved his wrath against the earth, and blessed the burnt offering.
The sacrifices of the Old Testament times are the spiritual worship we offer today.
We are to worship reverently.
3) You must live in the ark.
Noah obeyed God's commands, built the ark, and was saved from the judgment of the flood.
Living according to the Word of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit is the life of building the ark.
The ark also represents the Savior, Jesus Christ.
If you accept Jesus as your Savior, you will not be judged and perish but will be saved (John 3:16-18).
We must accept Jesus, who is the ark of salvation, as our Savior and live according to the guidance of the Word and the Holy Spirit.
