Man is a being who has not only a body but also a soul, living only by the law. As Jesus traveled from place to place, he performed many miracles.
Among such signs, He healed an incurable disease (John 4:46-52), except for turning water into wine (John 2:1-11). 8 He was healed of a 38-year-old man in Bethesda by the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem.)
Those who witnessed the scene or heard the news indirectly followed Jesus wherever he went, so most of them could not prepare food. Jesus, having compassion on the crowd, took the five barley loaves and two fish, gave thanks and broke them. The number of people who ate the bread was 5,000, including the girls. This was the background for Jesus to preach the Bread of Life.
The Bible says that just because a person eats and is active does not mean he has bought everything. This tells us that even though the physical life is alive, there are many people who are spiritually dead. In order to live spiritually, we must eat the food of eternal life.
First, it is a world hungry for spiritual food (verse 26).
Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were satisfied. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life (verses 26-27).
The food we take in this world can only sustain life that perishes. No matter how much food a person accumulates in this world, he cannot save the soul with it. A rich man's foolishness of saying that when a good harvest comes, and the produce is abundant, he expands the warehouse, stocks up a lot of material, and seeks the satisfaction of the soul in the material....
