Title: For God's Name

Contents

“For the sake of his name…” (Psalm 23:3)

1. Introduction: Reasons for guiding you on the path of righteousness

- The reason God revives our soul is so that we can walk the path of righteousness with the revived soul. Then, what is the reason that makes us walk the path of righteousness? The text answers the reason, “for his name.” The path of righteousness involves many hardships, persecutions, and sacrifices. Nevertheless, it is because of the name of God that God guides us to walk the path of righteousness. To live for the name of God means to live for the glory of God.

2. Main body: for one's own name

1) name faith

- For the people of Israel, God's name is the same as God Himself. Because God is a Spirit, it is invisible to human eyes. Therefore, the attitude toward God is expressed in the attitude toward God Himself. Those who love God also love the name of God, because love for the invisible God is expressed in love for the name of God.

- Therefore, God judges whether people have faith and reverence for Him by the attitude of the people of this land toward His name. Those who love God honor His name. All who fear God and want to live for God are interested in how His name is regarded in the world.

2) To glorify means to acknowledge

- The glory of God is a sufficiency and contentment. God is not a God who is perfected by the addition of glory by man or honor by creation. In this way, the very existence of God is not defiled, dishonored, or glorified by human sin. But because God is in heaven, but God puts His name in the world, the glory of His name is affected either through the lives of His children or by the faith and unbelief of the world He created.

- To ‘glorify’ means to ‘acknowledge’. This isn't about making things that don't exist. Human eyes were so blind that we did not know who God was, but when we came to understand what God was like through certain events, we acknowledge that He is God and kneel, that is, glorifying God. Therefore, this is not something we give to God, but a kneeling acknowledgment with all our souls and hearts of the light of glory that shines from His existence. So, to show unbelievers what God is like through our lives is to make them acknowledge God and glorify God.

3) Why it is important to live for the name of God

- Before sin entered, all creatures, including human beings, were able to recognize God in an orderly and orderly manner, and the entire universe created by God and all creations displayed the glory and majesty of God brilliantly. However, when sin entered, the relationship with God was cut off, and creation lost the fullness of God's divinity. there was no

- So God chooses one person, chooses a family, chooses a nation, and gives a unique blessing to the soul, and makes that soul walk the path of righteousness, so that through their lives and beings, God lives on others. makes you realize deeply that It is God's plan to do so so that they feel and acknowledge God, so that they also serve the God we serve.

4) Zeal for the name of God

- The supreme value of those who loved God was holiness, not their own happiness. He lived while pondering whether he could show the world that Jehovah is God through all the material, authority, and opportunities that the Lord has given him. What kind of hope he has determines a person's life. If he has a desire for God's glory in his heart, he will soon live for God's glory.

- It was only because of his loyalty to God's name that David ran to the battlefield for a duel with Goliath, who seemed to have no chance of winning, and that was his faith. And this was inseparable from David's own fear of God. He could not bear the reproach at the mouth of the uncircumcised Gentiles in the name of God and in Israel, taken out of it. This reverence for the invisible God manifests itself as a zeal for the name of the visible God. This is because the name of God on this earth is regarded as God Himself.

3. Conclusion: For the Glory of His Name

- Those who have experienced God's love have always lived in pain because of their disobedience and worldly unbelief that the name of God was tarnished, and they devoted themselves to exalting God's name. This is the life of God's people. Even today, God is looking for people who are suffering because of the name of God that has fallen to the ground and want to live up to God's name even by devoting themselves to it. Become saints who live for the name and glory of God. 2003-12-28
