Title: Fountain of Life (John 04:14)
What is happiness and where is it? Is it in the intellect? Is it in pleasure and pleasure? Is it in status and fame? Is it in money, which people so much love today? It never is.
Some people knew that happiness lies in money, and they loved money very much. Someone who didn't know this said:
"Money is a good thing. But money can buy a good bed, but it cannot buy a deep sleep. You can buy a lot of good books, but you can't buy wisdom. You can buy precious food, but you can't buy taste. You can buy expensive clothes, but not true beauty. You can buy a good house, but not a happy family. You can buy medicine, but not health, you can buy luxury but not culture, you can't buy pleasure, but you can't buy happiness, but money can't buy a religious person. You can be good, but you cannot be a good Christian, and you can live in this world, but not in heaven.”
Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, which was delicious and coveted enough to make them wise, but instead of having a good time, only misery came.
Then, where is true happiness and true satisfaction in life? Today we have five husbands to find happiness and satisfaction in this world, but instead of being happy, a poor, poor woman who was ignored and despised by people. You will see happiness and contentment coming from this door.
First, Jesus met this poor woman and went to the land of Samaria to save her.
Let's take a few lessons from this fact.
(1) Jesus' love transcends regions. (2) There is no discrimination between Jews and Gentiles in the salvation that Jesus offers. (3) We see the personal salvation passion of Jesus. See personal salvation passion in Samaria. The purpose of going to Samari is not to shorten the road, but to meet someone who will be saved. (4) The truth of Christianity is not that people seek God, but that God comes to people and gives them salvation. (5) Jesus knows the sinfulness and ugliness of human beings, knows that spiritual hunger and that he has five husbands, yet he loves and has compassion on him.
Second, Jesus gave the Samaritan woman the spring of life.
The water that the world gives only gives temporary satisfaction and makes you thirst again, but the fountain of life that Jesus gives is the word of God that never thirsts.
Let's look at the meaning of the word, the spring of life, into three categories.
(1) The Word of God is the two-edged sword of the Holy Spirit.
The sword's job is to kill people and to save the dead by surgery. The sword of the Word is the sword of life that saves the sick and the dead.
The sword of the Word pierces and splits the marrow of the soul when performing surgery on the sick soul, so there is pain and suffering that cannot be resolved. People hate the word because of the pain of being stabbed, just like children hate hospitals and doctors.
However, for spiritual health, you have to endure such pain and stabbing in order to have a healthy soul. (2) The Word of God is a mirror that reflects the heart. What mirrors do is show the outside of a person. In modern times, due to the development of science, even newspaper letters on the ground are printed by airplanes from the air, and in hospitals, people's internal organs are looked through with an endoscope and X-rays are used to see only human bones.
However, nothing in this world can show the state of a person's soul, nor can they show the thoughts of the heart.
Only the Word of God reveals the sinfulness of man, the nakedness of the soul, and all the filthiness of the heart.
That is why people do not come before the Word in order not to expose their ugliness and filthiness, just like a cockroach hides from the light and hides in a dark and dirty place.
However, in order to gain health in spirit, you must come out in front of the mirror of the Word and see your true self.
(3) The Word of God is the fountain of life. The spring water does two things: One is to eat and the other is to wash.
When a person who is tired and thirsty from the heat pours cool spring water into a gourmet and drinks it, the heat disappears and energy rises from within.
When you take a bath in the cool spring water on a hot summer day, the dirty things are washed away, the heavy body becomes dull, and the hot body cools down and feels like flying.
In this way, the word of God gives strength to the weary saints, and the dirty things are washed away, giving happiness, joy, and satisfaction to life.
Dear saints, don't talk about happiness without Christ. Since Christ is the Sun of righteousness, there is no warmth without Him. Christ is the light of the world, and without Him we cannot escape from darkness. Because Christ is the Bread of Life, without Him no one can be satisfied with spiritual satiety.
Because Christ is the source of life, you cannot experience true joy and joy in life without Him.
“Blessed are the people who make the LORD their God” (Psalm 144:15).
“Blessed is the Lord who puts his hope in his God” (Psalm 146:5) “The Lord is my shepherd, I will not want” (Psalm 23:1) Only true happiness in Jesus who gives the fountain of life True joy I am very satisfied.
