freedom given to those who believe
(2006.09.10. Week) (Luke 4:18-19)
Good God, our King God - who created man and made him in His image - gave freedom and abundance.
In the Garden of Eden, where mankind lived in the beginning, everything was prosperous, and Adam and Eve who lived there lived in complete freedom without any restrictions.
But that freedom did not last long. That wealth did not last long.
The moment they sinned, they were overcome with fear and lost their peace of mind and their freedom.
In the end, he was expelled from Eden, the Garden of Abundance, and had to work hard to survive - the Hall of Abundance was lost.
However, it is clear that God did not create man to inflict poverty, suffering and oppression.
God still wants to give us the freedom and abundance that He already gave to man when He created it.
I pray that you will gain freedom again by God's grace and live a life of abundance again.
For that noble work, our Jesus came into the world - do you believe it?
“The Spirit of the Lord has come upon me,” says Jesus, “for he anointed me and sent me to preach the gospel to the poor.”
1. People before meeting Jesus are poor.
What does it mean to “preach the gospel to the poor”?
It means that those who have not accepted the Gospel are poor.
Is living in a good house, eating good food, wearing beautiful clothes, and living in pleasure, a life of abundance?
Of course, unbelievers will think of it as wealth and call such a person rich.
But the Bible doesn't say that.
(Rev 3:17) - “You say, ‘I am rich, and I have prospered, and need nothing, but I do not know that you are wretched, wretched, poor, blind, and naked.” - But our Lord - to those who boast only of material abundance - "is pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.
In today's text - referring to those who have not accepted the Gospel - they are the captives, the blind, the oppressed - that is, they are reminding us that they are poor.
I know I am rich, but looking back, I am a poor person. I live knowing that I am a free man, but when I look back, he says that I am oppressed and captive.
But don't worry - Jesus has come - He has come to preach the gospel - He promises to give freedom to those who receive it.
We pray that you believe that Jesus gave freedom to us who received the Gospel and believe in Jesus, and that those who enjoy that freedom will enjoy abundance.
2. Jesus came to give us freedom.
(John 8:33) - "They answered, "We are Abraham's descendants, and we have never been slaves. How can you say that we will be set free?" - (John 8:34) "Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.”
They think that they are free only when they have political freedom and only when their body is free, but they are not. No one can be free while he is in sin.
Being a sinner is a slave to sin - being oppressed.
Only the sinless Jesus can free us from that oppression.
If you believe in Jesus and believe in the gospel, I believe that Jesus will set you free.
1) He gives freedom to the captives.
*At some point last year, there was a woman who made a huge impact on TV - remember the person who was nicknamed <Madame of Fan>? - He is also from Korea, which is a liberal democracy. - When he was a virgin, he had a very pretty face and he sang very well. - He was a well-known singer. - He wanted to be prettier and more famous, so he had plastic surgery and went to Japan to make a name for himself. - But caught up in the hallucination of “I have to be prettier” - Captivated by the hallucination of “Add soybean oil” - Became a prisoner of aestheticism and auditory hallucinations - Injecting all sorts of foreign substances into the face - The face becomes a fan A person who has grown up to such an ugly shape.
No one restrained him - but he himself has become a prisoner of misconceptions.
*Who could have taken away freedom from the great king of a nation, King Saul? - However, as a prisoner of an evil spirit, Saul committed only sins and was destroyed.
Neither are we oppressed in the body - the body is free. - But please take a look. Please take a look at your soul. - Have you ever been caught somewhere and led a captive life?
*Aren't you living a life that is not free because of chastity and prestige?
* Do you not lead a free life because of material greed?
*Like the saying that there is no business in alcohol - Aren't you being dragged around by alcohol?
*There are many people who are drawn to gambling and lose their lives. - That's all evidence of captivity.
When you are not free because you are a prisoner like this - when you do not have to struggle no matter how hard you try to escape - the only solution is to think of the Lord and leave it completely to Him.
Jesus came to give “freedom to the captives” - I pray that you will cast off your captivity by trusting in Jesus.
2) He gives freedom to the blind.
How good are your eyesight? - If possible, I wish you good eyesight for a long, long time.
However, spiritual eyes are more important than physical sight. - Although the physical sight is good, people with dark spiritual eyes cannot see spiritual things.
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1) - Those who believe have their spiritual eyes open to see what their physical eyes cannot see.
We must see God with our spiritual eyes and heaven with our spiritual eyes - but those who do not believe in Jesus say that there is no heaven and that there is no God - so they are spiritually blind.
Our Jesus opens our spiritual eyes - alleviating the suffering of the blind. - Open your spiritual eyes that Jesus opened wide, look to heaven, and look to God - I pray that you will lead a happy life.
3) He gives freedom to the oppressed.
Is your heart always cheerful? Are you happy? Are you cool? - It should be.
Or is it that your heart is stuffy and your heart is heavy? - Our Jesus doesn't want that.
"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden - I will give you rest."
He said that he would give “freedom to the oppressed.”
A heart crushed by negative thoughts, a heart suffocated by stress, a heart crushed by a sense of loss that nothing can be done - Such a heart is not what our Lord wants - Jesus came to release us from such oppression and such pressure You have come. - I pray that you will release all oppression and enjoy freedom.
3. I pray that you will enjoy the year of grace.
At first, like a captive, like a blind person, and oppressed - even if it was a soul struggling in poverty - Jesus sets everything free - and if you rely on Jesus, everything will be solved. Let's see what's next.
(4:19) - "that the year of the Lord's favor may be proclaimed" - Debtors, slaves - They live in affliction all the time - But in the Jubilee, which comes once every 50 years, everyone is set free - It is the year.
Dear saints, we have heard the Gospel. I believed in Jesus. I still believe it. - Our Jesus gave us freedom. It is no longer paper. May you enjoy the year of grace forever by the grace of Jesus - I bless you in the name of the Lord Jesus, who gives freedom.
