July 26, 2009 Sermon
Text: John 15:1-10 (Gospel of John)
1. I am the true vine, and my father is the farmer.
2. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, the Father takes away it, and every branch that bears fruit He purifies so that it may bear more fruit.
3. You are already clean by the words I spoke to you.
4. Abide in me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of its own accord unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
5. I am the vine and you are the branches; if he in me and I in him, this man bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
6. If a man does not abide in me, it is thrown out like a branch and withers away. People gather it and throw it into the fire to burn it.
7. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
8. My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and you will be my disciples.
9. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love.
10. Just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love, so if you keep my commandments you will abide in my love
Title: Fruiting Vine
1. The relationship between Jesus and the saints
The vine is regarded as the best fruit tree in Israel. It is a fruit tree that is recognized as the most valuable in Israel for its richness of nutrition and in many ways. Jesus compared himself to a true vine and said that Christians attached to him are branches attached to Jesus.
Those who are satisfied with their souls in the Lord and who are full of zeal are those who seek the kingdom and its righteousness voluntarily and work hard to accomplish the will of the Lord. It is a person who has a strong relationship with the Lord, spirit, and flesh, and dedicates his time, body, material, and talents diligently. Such a person is a person whose soul energizes in it, autonomously meditates on the Word day and night, praying and thinking of His will. However, the foolishness of man is that although his body is in front of the Lord, his heart is all in his own troubles. Then he says, ‘You work hard, you work hard, and you do it’.
2. Let's fulfill our mission as branches
Although the saints live in the world, they do not belong to this world, but because they are the people of the kingdom of Christ, even if there is loss, they must accomplish his will and bear his fruit in it. When we become good and faithful servants and obey him, we can receive and eat what God directly gives us in spirit, body, health, and material things. It is said that Isaac (Gen. 26:12) planted in the land in this year and gained a hundredfold. And the man became prosperous and prosperous, and finally he was rejected. It was in the midst of a severe famine that the land could never dwell there. But Isaac listened to God's word and obeyed it.
Don't say that you fell apart with the Lord for my efforts and my will. Seek the blessings that Jesus completed on the cross, both in soul and in body. Even if the body is good, what if the soul is dry and the Lord cuts it off? The world is temporary. Newbies fall rainwater from trees. Persimmon trees in front of our house are now full of open persimmons and they are scattered on the street. How many times do you feel like you're stuck together until the end even after it's all gone? It rains a little and falls, when the wind blows, it falls, after a while, when the rainy season ends, rainwater falls, and then again when a typhoon blows, it falls. But persimmons that stick to the end are a great treat. do the harvest Here, no matter what happens, stay faithful and bear fruit of blessing.
