Title: Fulfill your vows

Text: (Leviticus 27:1~15)

Hymns: 321. to Jesus who redeemed me

Date: December 29, 2011 (Thursday) 5 am

Venue: Jeonju Yebut Church Small Worship Room

When faced with an urgent situation, many people easily make a vow that they will offer something or do something if their prayers are answered. However, after the problem is solved, there are many times when we forget or pretend to be ignorant of our vows. Today's text is a teaching about vows.

1. Pay your vows.

God is a faithful keeper of His promises. He is honest and just, he does not change what he promises, but he faithfully delivers. God wants us to be faithful like Him. That is why he says that if you make a promise with God, you must pay it, whether it is beneficial or harmful. (Deuteronomy 23:22-23) Also, “If you have made a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for God is not pleased with fools. There is also the saying, “It is better not to make a vow than to make a vow and not pay it” (Ecclesiastes 5:4-5). There is no act that despises the other person more than that if you break the promise you made with the other person that you achieved your goal. Do not despise God.

2. Do not make a vow in vain.

Therefore, do not make a vow in urgency. No one can say anything in the presence of God. Do not try to haggle with God like the gangsters or haggers. Also, if you do not give the things you promised to give to God, God considers you to be stealing. It is free even if you do not make a vow. God sees the amount of vows and does not answer them. Also, he is not someone who wants to take away our things because he lacks something. He is the Creator, the Ruler of all things. If you ask of us anything, it is in order to free us from the bonds of greed and lust that bind us.

3. What is dedicated to God is holy.

God considers a vow made holy. All sacrifices that have already been made are holy and cannot be exchanged for anything else. If they tried to change it, it was also considered holy and had to be offered to God. Even if it was an unclean animal, everything offered to God became holy. You must not touch anything holy. Achan's sin, which was cursed by Israel and stoned to death, was not simply stealing. It is the result of touching the city of Jericho and the riches there, which God has determined wholly his own. The human eye can deceive, but it cannot deceive God. Therefore, do not put back in your own pocket what is dedicated to God.

God is pleased with a heart that is not shaken. The devil puts various tempting thoughts and all kinds of regrets in our hearts. As a result, they lose their innocence and sincerity toward God. Due to this temptation, the Ananias and his wife died. (Acts 5:1~11) Make a decision before God and fulfill your devotion. It is a faithful believer to keep the promises made to God and people. Be a true believer.

<Prayer>

1. Help me to become a faithful Christian who keeps his promises to God and to people!

2. Let the rivers of living water overflow from the Yebut pulpit and fill the whole world!

3. Heal the weak members of the church and save the unbelieving families so that they can achieve the fame of faith!
