Title: General Ministry/Zech 4:5-6

Contents

1. General Ministry

1) The Holy Spirit was deeply involved when God the Father created the world. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, is a divine instinct full of vitality. So He appears in the world as the Giver of Life.

2) The Holy Spirit is symbolized by water. It means the one who purifies the believer spiritually and is the source of life.

(1) He conquers the sin that defiled man by entering into the human life that was defiled, soiled, and defiled by sin, regenerating his heart and purifying his life.

(2) Water is essential for the life of humans, animals, and plants. A good spring spurts a lot of water, so no matter how much water you pump, it still overflows. The waters of the springs on high overflow and give life wherever they reach. Jesus said it is “a well of water springing up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

3) The Holy Spirit is symbolized by the wind. In a conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus spoke of the Holy Spirit as wind (John 3:8). The Holy Spirit works in a mysterious way.

(1) The working of the Holy Spirit is like wind, so people can see the results, but cannot see the substance that causes them.

(2) The wind has power. The same is true of the Holy Spirit. No matter how stubbornly you oppose God and try to cut off your relationship with Christ, when the Holy Spirit enters and works in your life, you are fundamentally transformed.

4) The Holy Spirit is symbolized by the breath. The Holy Spirit gives not only natural life, but also spiritual life. The Holy Spirit regenerates the dead from sins and trespasses, brings them back to life, and infuses them with power to carry out the mission entrusted to them.

5) The Holy Spirit is symbolized by intense fire (Acts 2:1-3). Because the hearts of the disciples on the Day of Pentecost were kindled by the power of the Holy Spirit, they were able to preach the gospel. Just as fire has the power to purify, the Holy Spirit also works to purify. Just as gold ore is refined into pure gold through a fire furnace, the Holy Spirit works through fire to purify and sanctify sin in the believer's life.

6) The Holy Spirit is symbolized by oil. When Christ was baptized with water, the Holy Spirit was present. The anointing is the confirmation of the Holy Spirit that Jesus is the Son of God. This anointing also comes on believers as the Holy Spirit so that they can live fully as children of God.

7) The Holy Spirit is symbolized by a dove. When Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit came upon him like a dove. Just as the dove symbolizes purity, gentleness, and peace, the work of the Holy Spirit enables believers to live as people of purity, gentleness, and peace.

8) The Holy Spirit is still working in us today, helping us to live as children of God and disciples of Christ.
