13:1 And when Abram came out of Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, went up to the south.

13:2 Abram was rich in cattle and silver and gold.

13:3 And he departed from the south, and came to Bethel, to the place where he had encamped before, between Bethel and Ai.

13:4 The place where he first built an altar, where he called on the name of the LORD.

13:5 And Lot, Abram's companions, had sheep and cattle and tents.

13:6 The land did not allow them to dwell, for they had so much that they could not dwell in them.

13:7 Therefore the shepherds of Abram's cattle and the shepherds of Lot's cattle quarreled with each other, and the Canaanites and the Perizzites also dwelt in the land.

13:8 And Abram said to Lot, "We are one flesh; let us not quarrel with each other, neither you nor my shepherd nor your shepherd.

13:9 Is not the whole earth before you? Leave me. If you are left, I will be right; if you are right, I will be left.

13:10 So Lot lifted up his eyes and looked at the Jordan, and there was plenty of water in all the land as far as Zoar, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, it was like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt.

13:11 So Lot took all the Jordan and moved it to the east, and they departed from each other.

13:12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain, and moved his tents as far as Sodom.

13:13 The men of Sodom were wicked, and they were great sinners before the LORD.

13:14 After Lot had left Abram, the LORD said to Abram, Lift up your eyes and look from where you are, east, west, north and south.

13:15 I will give to you and to your descendants the land you see, forever.

13:16 I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth; if a man can count the dust of the earth, then your descendants will also be numbered.

13:17 Arise, walk through the land in length and breadth, and I will give it to you.

13:18 So Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt in the oaks of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and there he built an altar to the LORD.

14:1 In those days Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goim,

14:2 And Bera king of Sodom, and Birsha king of Gomorrah, and Sinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Suboim, and the king of Bela which is Zoar.

14:3 They were all gathered together in the valley of Siddim, which is now the salt sea.

14:4 They served Chedorlaomer twelve years, and in the thirteenth year they betrayed them.

14:5 In the fourteenth year, Chedorlaomer and the kings allied with him came out, against the Rephas from Ashtroth-garnaim, and against the Shushites from Ham, and against the Emites from Shawegiriathaim.

14:6 They struck the Horites from Seir the mountain, and came to Elparan, near the wilderness.

14:7 And they turned and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the land of the Amalekites, and the Amorites who lived in Hazazon-tamar.

14:8 And the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar, went out to battle with them in the Valley of Siddim.

14:9 Those five kings fought with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and four kings Arioch king of Ellasar.

14:10 The Valley of Siddim was full of pitch pits, and when the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, the soldiers fell into them, and the rest fled to the mountains.

14:11 Your king will take away all the wealth and food of Sodom and Gomorrah.

14:12 And he also took Lot, Abram's nephew, who lived in Sodom, captive, and plundered his possessions.

14:13 And the fugitive came and reported to Abram the Hebrew, who lived near the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, and Mamre was the brother of Eshcol, and the brother of Aner, who were allies with Abram.

14:14 When Abram heard that his nephew had been taken captive, he took three hundred and eighteen men who had been raised and trained in the house, and pursued them as far as Dan.

14:15 He divided his vassals, and smote them by night, and pursued them as far as Hoba, on the left side of Damascus.

14:16 And he brought back all the stolen goods, and Lot his nephew, and his possessions, and all the women and the people.

14:17 When Abram returned from destroying Chedorlaomer and the kings with him, the king of Sodom came to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh, that is, Gog of Kings.

14:18 Melchizedek king of Salem came out with bread and wine, a priest of the Most High God.

14:19 And he blessed Abram, saying, Lord of heaven and earth, God Most High, bless Abram.

14:20 Blessed be the Most High God, who delivered your enemies into your hand.??Abram gave a tenth to Melchizedek from what he had gained.

14:21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Send the people to me, and take the goods.

14:22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I lift up my hand and swear to the LORD God Most High, Lord of heaven and earth.

14:23 I will not take from you, not even a single thread or a pair of sandals, lest you say that I made Abram rich.

14:24 But I shall take away the portion of the boys that I ate, and the portion of Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre who were with me, and they shall take their portion.

14:1 In those days Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goim,
