Title: Genesis 19:24-28 Pillar of Salt
Content 4. Pillars of Salt
▨ Genesis 19:24-28 ▧
In the old days, when Sodom and Gomura were judged by the brimstone fire, all who lived there were judged and destroyed, and only three were saved. This judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah was a historic great judgment that took place about 400 years after the flood judgment and about 4,000 years ago.
The fact of this judgment is also the meaning of the foreshadowing of judgment with fire even at the end of the future world.
(Luke 17:28-30) "And it will be as in the days of Lot, when people ate, bought, sold, planted, and built houses, and on the day Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them. So shall it be" (2 Ben 2:6), "And he turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes, destined to be destroyed, and he set them as an example for those who would come afterward to be ungodly." Above all, if the motive for their destruction at the time
(1) Sexual morality was extremely corrupted (2 Peter 2:7)
(2) Sins that despise and despise the righteous
(3) The sin of ridiculing and disbelief in the Word of God
(4) The sin of disobeying God's commands and disbelief by loving the world more than God
(5) It was a world where social ethics and morality fell to the ground.
It is said that they were destroyed because of these sins, but since this is the age we are living in, I think it is a time to fear God's wrath.
1. It is because I took the angel's hand, but my heart is gone.
Verse 16 says, "They took Lot's hand, his wife's hand, and his two daughters by the hand, and brought them outside the city, because the Lord had been kind to him." This means that God saved Lot and his family by forceful grace.
Even today, there are many believers who say “Lord, Lord,” with their mouths, but there will be many who, like Lot’s wife, will not be saved because their hearts are separated from the Lord. Now, saints, we need to examine how the relationship between me and Jesus is.
2. I am unhappy by looking back.
Verse 17 says, "After the men brought them out, they said, "Flee and preserve life; do not look around or remain in the fields, but flee into the mountains, lest they perish." This is a warning not to have any regrets about the world's wealth or anything that will perish. And he told them not to stay in the fields. This is a warning not to be near the city of Sodom, which will be destroyed by Lot. That is, they must be completely removed from the city of destruction. However, Lot's wife could not completely leave Sodom, so she looked back and became a pillar of salt.
3. A pillar of salt, a symbol of a traitor to orders
The four members of a family were commanded by an angel to go quickly to the mountain without looking back. Not a single child, not a curious adolescent, but a middle-aged woman with grown-up children. It is only natural that she should be severely punished for betraying the angel's command. In a way, a person in a position to be concerned that their children and daughters will betray their orders has overturned expectations and violated the orders the angels had warned of.
Considering one of the causes of the fall of Judas Iscariot (Mt 26:7-13), a woman came out with a bowl of very precious perfume, poured it on the feet of Jesus while he was eating, and washed his feet with her hair and kissed them. It can be said that it was because he was displeased and took sanctions. I am a disciple of Jesus, and above all in charge of finances, yet I could not please the Lord materially, but on the contrary, I restrained the devotion of a woman.
So my destruction is natural. Saints, we must first obey the Lord's commands and be the ones who exhort the young and the young to obey the Word and lead a life of obedience.
4. Lot's wife did not see the future blessings.
I did not see or understand the providence of God, and I was satisfied with what I saw with the naked eye. It was the land that her husband obtained by obtaining a choice in the division of property with Abraham (Gen. 13:9), and the husband is now a seer of future blessings, but I still have not been satisfied with the welfare of the land that my husband has chosen. is. In other words, he is a comfy person who neither wants nor wants more welfare because he is intoxicated with his life.
Even today, there are many people who are satisfied with their worldly life and are intoxicated with worldly riches, power, and pleasure without even thinking to receive eternal blessings in the future. Jesus is foolish and has pity on such people.
(Luke 12:13-21) Lot's wife became the most pitiful and pitiful of the family.
I couldn't even enjoy what I had regrets, and I died. One and the other family members lived with new hope in the new welfare and received eternal blessings. (3 John 1:2) "It is well with you in all things as your soul prospers." I am definitely not good in spirit, so I am under the curse of this life and the life to come.
5. Lot's wife has little interest in salvation.
There are many believers who are not interested in salvation in the future, hoping that some kind of miracle will happen even though they attend church, and they will receive material blessings and health blessings.
The proof is that there are believers who are not interested in the true conservative proclamation of the truth and are in a group that emphasizes the ups and downs.
If I had the will to be saved, I would not have looked back.
6. Although it was a small mistake, the result was a great misery.
When fire falls from the sky, I am curious about what happens to that place, so I think it is natural to see and want to see it once.
But on God's part, it was not acceptable.
“Achan,” who went to war and devoted himself to fight for the country, lost his achievements and hid the truth and was stoned to death by me and his family.
How are we today? Let's reflect on whether we are hoping to prosper while eating and drinking sins. They deceive God and become holy. They don't celebrate Sunday, they don't give thanks, they don't give thanks to God, they live according to their own feelings, they live according to their own feelings. The thing that has not yet been destroyed is the love of God, but they don't even realize this. I just hope it's not too big or not.
7. Salvation means strictness.
I went with the angel and left the city of perdition, but because I did not keep the Word in the process, I was reduced to destruction on the verge of salvation.
At the crucifixion of Jesus, the robber on the right was brought to paradise with Jesus by grace in the desire to be saved at that moment. This Lot's wife was not saved because of her unpretentious behavior at that moment.
There is no compromise or favoritism on the crossroads between salvation and destruction, and those who have a clear view of salvation and pour all their heart into salvation will be saved.
conclusion
God destroyed the city of Sodom, where sin reigned supreme. Not all of them were destroyed, but among them, Lot's family, who believed in God, were saved by angels.
The sins of the present world surpass those of Sodom and Gomorrah. God, who hates sin, will bring a great judgment without warning, like a disaster. We, the saints, will have to live in sanctification every day regardless of sin and receive the blessing of being led by an angel like Lot.
