<Meditation>
1. After receiving Abraham's command, Eliezer left to seek a wife for Isaac. Eliezer arrived at the city of Nahor and prayed before God.
He prayed “that we may meet in peace”. The content of the prayer was to ask the girl who came out to draw water for some water, but she prayed that if she gave water to the camels as well as to me, I would know that she was the virgin God had ordained. It means I will choose someone who will do one more than I asked for.
This means that we will find people of faith who are well trained according to the word of God.
The faith that Eliezer will find such a virgin through prayer is important, but meeting a man of true faith as the wife of a husband is the most blessed thing for Isaac.
2. Let's look at the scene where Rebekah waters Eliezer.
They act to grant Eliezer’s request ‘hurriedly’. It can be seen that Rebekah was usually a kind person to everyone. Had she refused this small invitation, Rebekah would never have been a great man in the Bible. Therefore, a wise person values encounters. Because there is a miracle in meeting. A good human relationship is often more decisive for a person's success than wisdom or knowledge. Therefore, you should be a person who values meetings, meets the needs of neighbors, and knows how to give and share.
3. The beauty of a person is not in the appearance, but in the ‘heart’.
Rebekah called her a 'pretty girl'. There is a passage that shows Rebekah's beautiful heart. Not only did they water Eliezer, but they also watered ten camels to their full satisfaction. The act of faith is to put one more on top of what the other person wants (Matthew 5:39-42).
When Rebekah gave Eliezer's camels all the water, Eliezer gave Rebekah a gold ring weighing half a shekel and a pair of gold wristbands weighing ten shekels - a total of 20.5 shekels of gold. One shekel is 11.4 grams. 20.5 shekels of gold is 62.3 gold.
Erezer watched in silence as Rebekah drew water and gave it to the camels. Just as he gave the treasure to Rebekah when she had finished drinking water, God is watching how she quietly carries out the task entrusted to her, and gives a great reward after completing her work.
God, who watches over us silently, grants us unimaginable great graces when we live a righteous life.
<Today's prayer topic>
1. Give us the faith to pray and trust in the Lord when we do something important.
2. Like Rebekah, help me to become a Christian who lives the best life for the needs of God and his neighbors. Amen
