(Genesis 48:8-22)
:8 And when Israel saw the sons of Joseph, they said, Who are these?
:9 And Joseph said to his father, "These are the sons God has given me here." The father said, "Bring them out before me, and I will bless them."
:10 And the eyes of Israel were darkened because of their age, and they could not see. So Joseph brought his two sons and went before their father, and Israel kissed them and embraced them.
:11 And he said to Joseph, I did not expect to see your face, but God has shown me even your offspring.
:12 And Joseph took his two sons between his father's knees, and fell to the ground and bowed down.
:13 And he made Ephraim toward the left hand of Israel by the right hand, and Manasseh with the left hand toward the right hand of Israel, and brought him near to him.
:14 And Israel stretched out the right hand and laid it on Ephraim's head, and laid it out on the left hand and laid it on Manasseh's head.
:15 And he blessed for Joseph, saying, The God whom my grandfather Abraham and my father Isaac served, the God who raised me up until now,
:16 May the angel who delivered me out of all troubles bless this child, that they may be called by my name, and by the name of my grandfather Abraham and my father Isaac, and may they be multiplied in the world.
:17 When Joseph saw that his father had put the rain gear on Ephraim's head, he was displeased, so he lifted up his father's hand to move it from Ephraim's head to Manasseh's head.
:18 He said to his father, “Father, not so, for this is the firstborn.
:19 And his father would not permit him, and said, I know, my son I know, and he shall become one people, and he shall become great: but his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become many nations.
:20 And he blessed them that day, saying, "The house of Israel will bless you, God will make you like Ephraim, like Manasseh." So he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
:21 And Israel said to Joseph, I am dying, but God will be with you and bring you back to the land of your fathers.
:22 I have given you a portion more than your brother, which I have taken out of the hand of the Amorites with my sword and bow.
