Title: Genesis 5:1-32

Contents <Text> Genesis 5:1-32

<Meditation>

Although all of the people recorded in the text are descendants of Adam, they are people who have overcome the terrible sin that is in them and won the battle with God's special grace and passed on their faith to the next generation. The text goes on to describe the generations without any noteworthy mention or change other than the names and years of the patriarchs. We see the appearance of one person who deserves special attention here. It is worth paying attention to the life of Enoch.

It is mentioned twice that he walks with God. After giving birth to Methuselah... walk with God (verse 22). Enoch walked with God (verse 24).

It is truly a blessing to have a companion in life.

It is truly a blessing to have a wife and a husband, a family, friends, and a faith community that lives together in faith. Especially, it is a blessing to be given a life with God.

The statement that Enoch 'walked with God' has three important meanings.

1. It shows true faith. True faith is walking with God. Because a life that walks with God is a godly life. The ungodly and worldly are those who live without God in this world. They turn their backs on God and walk in the opposite direction. But the godly walks with God. This presupposes reconciliation with God. Because two cannot walk together unless they agree (Amos 3:3).

2. Walking with God always means having God before us. Always act like a person under his supervision. It is living a life of communion with God in God's providence. Also, it is to make God's Word our principle in all our actions, and the glory of God as our goal. It is obeying God's will, agreeing to his plan, and being a servant with him.

3. Walking with God is the way a person of faith lives. Enoch did not see death and was not in the world because God took him. The article about Enoch is nothing special. But he said he walked with God. Enoch gave birth to Muthuselah at the age of 65, and after walking with God for 300 years, he went to God. The way the children of faith live is to walk with God. Enoch did not have any special talents or abilities. I was just an ordinary person. The only way he lived was to walk with God.

Faith is walking with God. It is living with God. His goal in life was not to make a lot of money, nor to raise his children, but to live a life of walking with God. Faith is following God. It is about revealing God through your life.

<Prayer>

God! Today, I want to live a life of walking with you. Please do not keep away from God and let me live a life that always walks with the Holy Spirit. Help me to become a child of the Lord who keeps the promise of the Word and always obeys.

I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen
