Gideon's War
(Judges 7:9-18)
Yesterday was the 55th anniversary of the Korean War.(...) Why does war happen? Why do good people have to suffer and die? (...)
A person must be prosperous, peaceful, full, and healthy in order to live, not grace. A person must have not only hope, but also hardships and enemies in order to live. Through this, you will realize the meaning of life.(...)
Israel went to war with Midian. Scholars estimate that there were about 200,000 Midianites at that time. However, Gideon's army was 300 men to oppose them.(...) Their only weapons were pots, torches, and trumpets.(...) The operation they carried out was also absurd. Even if we fight together, it is not cool, but we dispersed it into three units.(...) However, the result was a victory. What did Gideon's army do in this war?(...) This war was 100% God's. War tells us that it belongs to God.(...)
We must not forget the providence of God. All fundamental problems in the world are solved by God. It seems like humans do, but it's not. One life is more precious than the world, so how could there be no providence of God for tens of thousands of people to die and live?(...)
Psalm 127 says, “Unless God builds the house, the builders labor in vain, unless God guards the city, the watchman watches in vain. It is in vain that you get up early and lie down late and eat the bread of toilet.” .(...)
What is our strength to win the war?
① To know clearly what our enemies are.
What is the enemy of a person who lives a life of faith? What makes me fall and sin is my enemy.(...) If greed or laziness makes it difficult for me and my surroundings, it is my enemy and my enemy. Of course, we must resolve to defeat, train, and overcome in the name of Jesus.
② Faith and prayer.
Gideon prayed and trusted God's guidance.
I pray that the South and the North may work together to achieve peace quickly. (...) Just as Jesus reconciled us with God on the cross, we must pray together for God's powerful intervention. Amen.
