2012.1.29. Glory to God through good deeds (3) - The fulfillment of the law is love.- Matthew 5:17-20
Dear saints, did you enjoy the Lunar New Year holiday?
Today's text teaches us well how we should live our life of faith.
First, we must know that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament.
Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I did not come to abolish it.
to make it perfect
Jesus did not abolish the law.
Jesus' death on the cross is the fulfillment of the law.
As Jesus died on the cross,
He has set us free from the curse of the law.
Gal 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.
For it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree.
He has received all the curses we deserve according to the legal standard.
And he perfected the law.
Second, we must know the greatness of love.
Jesus taught the complex law to “love God and love your neighbor as yourself”.
You are bound by one word. Romans 13:8-10
Do not owe anyone anything except the debt of love to one another.
The law is fulfilled. Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal.
Thou shalt not covet, and if there be any other commandment, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
I have heard all the words of it. Love does no evil to its neighbor.
Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
I hope you will realize once again the greatness of love that summarizes and perfects the entire Old Testament.
And because you love God, I hope you do your best to love your neighbor.
Third, you must have a positive and active faith.
The law has more prohibitions against doing something like this.
‘Love God and love your neighbor as yourself!’
Do you know what is the most positive and most active? It's about trying to do it.
19 Whoever practices these things and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
You didn't just tell me to teach. “Teaching by doing” He said to teach by doing.
District leaders and Sunday School teachers are also encouraged to practice and share the Word.
Dear brothers and sisters, have active faith. Live a positive life of faith.
It's also important not to do what you're told not to do.
Go one step further and focus on doing good.
You will be able to lead a successful life of faith.
In order to live a life that glorifies God this year with the slogan “Glory to God through good deeds,
Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of the law, to bear the mission of light and salt with the love He showed on the cross.
I wish you all the best.
