Title: God's Army/Numbers 1:1-4
Contents God's army (Numbers 1:1-4)
What is Faith? It's a fight. Battle. But we are trying to live our religious life as a hobby. This is not to say that the life of faith is something you can do if you have enough time and don't if you don't have enough time. Also, faith does not become a life of faith if we habitually worship, pray when we have time, and read the Bible. The life of faith is our whole life. It is not only in the church, but in our entire life. Therefore, we must know that believing in God is a battle, a struggle, and a battle.
Now, little by little, I realize how difficult it is to live by faith. In a world full of iniquity and lies, and where the strong win, I want to stop at how difficult it is to fight against such things. There are times when I feel like I want to live in the mountains where there is no one else. It's that hard. How hard will you be?
The theme of Leviticus is holiness. Holiness does not come from performing ordinances. It is given unilaterally by the grace of God. Therefore, all life that knows God's grace and lives itself is a life of holiness. Living in this world with such a holy life, that is, with the spirit of sacrifice or with the spirit of the cross in the New Testament, is to live by the grace of God. Leviticus is about a month in terms of time.
Moses taught this Leviticus to the Israelites for a month. Numbers begins on February 1 of the 2nd year after completing these trainings. And what is the first thing you do in Numbers? Census. Verse 3 says, "You and Aaron number all those twenty years old and older who are ready to go to war, by their armies." This survey was not just a census, it was counting young people who could go to war. The beginning of Numbers like this is to reveal to us what the characteristics of Numbers are. That is war. Numbers means “in the wilderness” in Hebrew, where they are going to battle. Therefore, Israel is now destined to live as an army.
What do people fight with? He fights for power in this world. They fight to make money, to stand above others, to have at least one more thing in this world. They also fight for pride. Not long ago, my grandfather knocked over my grandmother and died because of water. It happened in Gimhae. This is how the world fights. Even believers are fighting this battle without realizing it. However, the battle the Israelites had to fight in Numbers is not such a battle.
I have to be a better being than that person, such a mind, such an attitude, and God created an army to fight it. The book of Numbers denounces the essence of such a human being. It shows how sinful and evil human beings are, and I want God to fight with me. This is the life of faith.
