Title: God's Call (Joshua 01:1)
Content Joshua has a fear of great authority.
“What will I do if I fail?” “If they rebel against me, how will I lead?”
1. The land of Canaan is the promised land.
Verses 2-3 It takes courage and strength to enter a land here, even though God has already given it to us through Moses.
From a human point of view, it seems impossible and difficult.
- Especially for Joshua, the people must have been the problem.
This is because there was an experience of being beaten with stoning for saying that he had gone as a spy to attack Canaan.
(Example) Moses also refused to go to Pharaoh - because he had an experience of running away after killing one person for 40 years.
Negative past experiences and thoughts can keep us from moving toward God's promises.
2. God's promise to be with you verse 5.
I will be with you as I was with Moses.
Even Moses once promised that God would be with him when he refused to go.
Exodus 4:11-12/ Again, this God is saying that he will be with Joshua.
(Example) The situation of the disciples/ You go and make disciples of all the peoples - How are you going to handle this? Matt 28:19/ Behold! I will always be with you until the end of the world! Acts 18:9-10 / Do not be afraid or be still, but speak.
Believe that we are together in the present, in the future, and until the end of the world, and let us not be shaken.
3. The history of leading through the Word verses 7-8.
1. Keep all the law and do it
2. Do not lean to the left or right,
3. Do not let the book of the law depart from your mouth.
4. Meditate on it day and night
5. Keep everything written in it and do it.
Result>Then your way will be smooth.
1. You must fully understand the Word of God.
Don't make it difficult You must fully understand--meditate on it day and night--and make it completely mine.
2. Everything must be followed according to the principles of God's Word.
It means a balanced life.
Also, when you obey in this way, the people of Israel will also obey the Word.
3. You must try to keep the Word as it is.
The place I step on with my feet to practice the Word becomes my realm. This is a life lived by the Word.
This will add to the discomfort.
