Dear saints,
Today's Bible verse is God's word about the 'guidelines for the conduct that the saints should follow when they enter the land of Canaan'.
“Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When you cross the Jordan and enter the land of Canaan” (verse 51).
The land of Canaan in the Old Testament refers to 'a land flowing with milk and honey', 'a beautiful land', and 'a land of abundance'. In other words, the area of present-day Palestine, which is now mostly the land of the Republic of Israel.
The biblical witness to the land of Canaan goes further and points to the 'heaven'.
So, what does the land of Canaan mean to us today?
It refers to a life that enjoys the blessings from God acquired by believing in Jesus.
The meaning of Canaan is to live a life that enjoys blessings in both this life and the life to come.
The title of today's sermon is 'God's command'.
Dear saints,
God's Command for Us to Live a Blessed Life
The first is to drive out all the natives of the land.
“I will drive out all the natives of the land from before you ” (verse 52).
The reason we cannot enjoy the blessings of Canaan even though we live in Canaan is because we did not drive out the natives. God speaks clearly. He clearly commands them to get rid of them.
The native here literally refers to the seven tribes of Deuteronomy 7:1.
These are the Hittites, the Girgasites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
Spiritually, indigenous people refer to Satan, that is, anything that prevents the saints from enjoying the blessings of Canaan. As evidenced in verse 52, idolatry is at the heart of this. Idolatry means living as slaves to the old things.
So the Bible speaks clearly.
“We know that our old self was crucified with Jesus so that the body of sin might be put to death, and that we would no longer be slaves to sin” (Romans 6:6).
“You shall not lie to one another; put off the old man and his deeds” (Colossians 3:9).
Dear saints,
We must drive out the old man and put on the new man.
We must expel all the natives that destroy our lives and put on the clothes of Christ.
We must take the initiative in Christ and live in the world.
Second, he commands them to live in that land.
'Occupy the land and dwell there---' (verse 53).
The command to cast out means to drive out all the seven tribes of Canaan.
Because if you do not drive them out, they will hold you back for the rest of your life, as recorded in verse 55.
“If you do not drive out the natives of the land from before you, those whom you leave behind will become thorns in your eyes and stings in your sides, and they will torment you in the land in which you live” (verse 55).
When God created us, he made us rulers over the earth.
“God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1:28 section)
When the saints live in Canaan, they cannot enjoy a blessed life unless they occupy the natives, that is, the seven tribes.
dear saints
First, take over the land completely.
Bind the power of Satan.
And live in that land.
Jesus tells us clearly.
Satan is a strong man, so he clearly tells us to become stronger and bind him.
“When a strong man puts up his armor and guards his house, his possessions are secure; but when a stronger man comes and subdues him, he takes away the armor in which he trusted and divides his wealth” (Luke 11:21-22).
Third, He commands that you will receive the inheritance according to your ability.
“The land shall be divided by lot according to your tribes; if there is many, you will give a large inheritance; if there is a small number, you will give a small inheritance.
God speaks clearly throughout the Bible.
I will repay you for what you have done.
Dear saints,
I hope that you will become a capable person who will succeed many companies in Canaan.
