Title: God's Command and Response
Contents
Christianity is a religion of the Word from the beginning. In Genesis 1:3,6,9, the heavens and the earth were created according to God's word, animals and living things obeyed God's word (Genesis 1:24), and plants obeyed God's word (Genesis 1:24). 1:30) Also, God's command to Noah in Genesis 6 (Genesis 6:22) and God's command to Abraham living in Haran are examples of following the word (Genesis 12:4).
Today's text, Exodus 35:30~36:1, explains how to serve in the tabernacle offered as a sacrifice to God. I hope that we will gain wisdom on how to serve and serve through these words.
---------------------------
I. You must do as you are commanded (36:1)
---------------------------
“Bezarel and Oholiab, and those who are wise in heart, to whom the LORD has given wisdom and understanding to do all the work for the sanctuary, they will do as the LORD has commanded.”
What is necessary for a person's life is true wisdom and understanding to correctly discern and carry out God's will. The reasons for obedience to God's command are as follows.
① Because it is God’s work. It is because making the tabernacle, offering sacrifices, and worshiping is God's work for God, and it is the same in today's churches.
② Because God is faithful and perfect (Numbers 23:19). God is the one who keeps his promises to people. What I do is a cross between success and failure. However, there is no failure in doing what God commands.
③ Because God's will is higher than my will (Isaiah 55:8,9) God's will is different from my will and is higher and greater than my will. The ancestors of faith, such as Noah, Abraham, and Moses, who obeyed God's commands, consistently obeyed God's commands and prospered without failure under God's protection. However, Adam, Cain, and King Saul, who disobeyed and disobeyed God's command, all failed and became unhappy. The obedient person experiences the glory of God, and this applies to personal life as well as to descendants (Deuteronomy 8:1, Deuteronomy 4:40).
---------------------------
Ⅱ. Serve and serve with joy (Exodus 35:29).
---------------------------
“This was the joy of the Lord, bringing goods to make all that he had commanded.”
Those who work for the Lord should do it with joy and joy. In this way, efficiency increases, and the atmosphere becomes brighter and more rewarding. In the text, the people of Israel volunteered for the tabernacle of God and gave it with joy. What we can learn from them here is as follows.
① It was given with a willing heart (Exodus 36:3,4). What a person offers to God must be a gift. It shouldn't be a simple thing. There must be sincerity and awe. God is not pleased with the offering without this (Mal. 1:7-10). Whatever work is done with a willing heart, it works well and the results are good.
② They gave generously (Exodus 36:5). Every morning the Israelites offered the materials necessary for the construction of the tabernacle to God. You can give generously not because of your wealth, but because of your faith. Do not force yourself to do it, but do it generously with a willing heart. Let's enjoy prayer (hymns, service) as well. If you serve with joy, you will be pleased.
---------------------------
Ⅲ. We must serve with the gift of the Holy Spirit (35a)
---------------------------
“He filled them with wisdom, that they might do many things.”
I can do my work life and business with my knowledge and know-how, but God's work must be done with the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that God gives me. That's why the Lord prayed, "Not my will, but your will." Do not try to lead the Lord's work according to my will. Let's not try to do the Lord's work as we please. Let it be the gift of the Holy Spirit. Let us be filled with the Holy Spirit and do it with that power.
---------------------------
Ⅳ. Do your best (32)
---------------------------
“He study craftsmanship, working with gold and silver and bronze.”
We must do our best in whatever we do. Let's do our best in praise, prayer, and assignments. Let's do our best in worship. Worship that does our best is to prepare and offer worship from the beginning (John 4:24). God is pleased with offerings that contain sincerity. Let's decide in advance. Offerings should be given with a grateful heart, prepared and planned.
---------------------------
Ⅴ. God's command and human response
---------------------------
God's unreasonable demands for the Israelites to build the tabernacle in the wilderness less than a year after the Exodus were as follows.
① God's command: God expects sacrifices from humans. Reconciliation with God is impossible without sacrifice. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross brought all mankind into reconciliation with God.
② Human response: The Israelites responded overflowingly to God's command. Faith and passion to obey can overcome the burden.
God wants Israel to wash away the passive slavery and spirit of slavery in Egypt through voluntary passion for God. Spontaneous passion, for it is the basic element of a citizen of heaven. Now, I hope that we too will become saints who are used preciously by God and enjoy great blessings through voluntary obedience and overflowing obedience to God's commands given to us.
