Content Christianity is so much a religion of covenant that the importance of the covenant is emphasized so much in the Bible.
The word 'covenant' is also translated as 'promise' or 'contract'. A contract between human beings aims at mutual benefit on an equal footing, and if either side does not fulfill it, it becomes void.
