Title: God's Faithfulness/Genesis 46:1-34

Contents Hymn of the Week: Chapter 434 June 5, 1995

Title: The Faithfulness of God Youngjin Church Dawn

Main text: Genesis 46:1-34 50.HWP  include:

Jacob, who left Canaan and headed for Egypt with all his possessions to meet Joseph, came to Beersheba, sacrificed to God and experienced God's presence. In this text, we find God's immutability and faithfulness.

1. Jacob offering sacrifices (1,2). Jacob promised that God would give Canaan to him and his descendants.

According to the promise, they thought that it was God's will to live in Canaan even if there was a famine. (15:13).

But now Jacob was afraid of the land (3) so that he left Gan'an because it was God's

To find out if this was the case, they came to Beersheba and offered a sacrifice to God.

Asking God's will is the most basic human attitude that exists for the glory of God.

2. Hearing God's voice (3,4). Jacob, who wanted to move according to God's will, eventually heard God's voice.

listen Through the voice of God, we are convinced that God's promise and reality are not in conflict.

fact can be realized. The only problem is that our field of view to see and understand is too narrow.

The way God fulfills that promise is different from what we think.

God is unchanging and faithful.

3. Jacob's determination (5-7). Hearing God's voice, Jacob decided to go down to Egypt.

This is because they have heard and believed the voice of God's covenant that they will go to Egypt to live now, but they will surely return to Canaan in the future (15:13-16).

What can we do when we are in the midst of anxiety about the future?

List of Jacob's family

The text contains a list of Jacob's family who were sent to Egypt.

The list is centered on the twelve sons of Jacob and is recorded by the offspring of Jacob's four wives.

1. They were descendants of Jacob. They are from the loins of Jacob.

Not a single descendant from the full list was directly related to Jacob. This lineage is very important.

Why are you listing this lengthy at this important moment? more than Christ in this world

More importantly, nothing What is listed here reveals the genealogy of Christ to come.

2. Demonstrating the fulfillment of God's promises. The number is recorded that the descendants of Jacob who went down to Egypt were seventy (27). To Abraham, who inquired about the heir, his descendants

God, who promised to be as numerous as the stars and sand, is slowly fulfilling that promise.

you can see God's promises sometimes come true slowly and over generations. But

It's done in a hurry. We have the impatience to hope that everything will come true at our own pace.

isn't there?

3. They were children of God. In fact, most of those names have nothing to do with us.

not even interested But God was very interested in recording them all.

It was because they were both children of God whom God was pleased with.

As children of God, do we believe that we are the object of God's utmost interest and love?
