God's Feast / Luke 14:15-24
The kingdom of God is like a great feast prepared. And it was the Lord who made the feast. In verse 16, it says that many people were invited, and in verse 17, it says that everything was ready. The gospel, the bread of life, is prepared for this feast. Atonement wine is also prepared for this feast. For this feast, the living water of the Holy Spirit is prepared for you to never thirst. The true love and peace of mind that people are looking for can be found at this feast.
This is also recorded in Matthew 22. There the inviter is the king. It is perfect because the host of this feast is God the King. All of this he is inviting people to give as a free gift. He says: "Come, you who are thirsty, come to the waters, come and buy wine and milk at no cost. How supreme is this by God's grace? There is nothing we need to do. We don't reject the Lord's invitation to me, but just come and eat. Where in the world can you find a gracious feast?
But the reaction of those invited to this glorious feast is unexpected. The Bible says, "It is recorded that all of them declined unanimously, saying... They had already made up their minds to reject love and love. They both refused. The reasons for refusal are varied.
Look at the first person's rejection. “I have bought a field, so I must go out and see it.” This saying, “I have to go out and see it,” is a strong refusal. He had already made up his mind not to go to the feast. No, are you saying that this person bought the field without even looking at it? Also, what is the reason for wanting to visit the field at the time the invitation was made? Can't we go tomorrow?
The second person says, "I bought a cow, so I'm going to test it, so forgive me. Why do I have to test the cow at this time? Everything is just an excuse.
Gentlemen, Satan is a master of excuses and excuses. Even today, Satan is doing his best to deceive people's hearts and give them reasons and excuses to reject God's invitation. That is why some of the people we invite gladly respond to them. However, there are people who try to get away with this excuse and that even after giving an answer. There will certainly be people who refuse our invitations by giving excuses to work, excuses for work, excuses for husbands, excuses for getting married, excuses for children, excuses for high school, excuses for appointments, etc. On the other hand, Satan will make excuses, excuses, and blame not only on unbelievers, but on ourselves as well. It will hold our ankles, hold our time, and make it immobile. So, even before the evangelism order, there will be people who avoid evangelism with excuses of time, work, health, business, and work.
The history of this excuse is as old as the history of mankind. Since Adam imputed the cause of his fall to the woman and the woman to the serpent, man has easily asserted the reason for unbelief.
What's your excuse today? If you were indifferent to the Lord's command to evangelize, what's your excuse? If you still haven't accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, what's your excuse? What's your excuse if you're doing your job and not attending Sunday worship?
Do you remember the owner's reaction to those who make these excuses? In verse 21, it is written, "The master was angry. The Bible testifies about the wrath of God. Because He is a God of love, it is only a subjective judgment to think that He will wait forever. Now is the acceptable time, and now is the time of salvation." However, personally and historically, there are times when the door of salvation is closed. There is a time when God forsakes it. Also, the Bible teaches about God's love and God's justice and judgment at the same time. Without this justice, history will not work. The Bible teaches that the wrath of the Lord will come upon those who reject the favor of the Lord. John 3:36 says, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life, and whoever obeys the Son has eternal life. Those who do not fight will not see eternal life, but the wrath of God abides upon them.” Won't you come to God's banquet where everything is ready now?
