Title - God's Grace that Believers Get
Bible - 1 Corinthians 1:8
God grants the grace of salvation as well as many other graces to those who believe in His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
And through that grace, believers can live a victorious life in the world, and also have the fragrance of Christ, and play a part in extending the kingdom of God to the world.
Then, through the words shown in today's text, let's take a look at what kind of grace God has that believers will receive.
A sermon that ended in tears
A Holiness Church can preach only if it is a holy person, right? how am i When Japan issued the Hamgu ryeong, it shut its mouth, and even though it was in the mountains of Goksan, it kept its mouth shut...
Since I was not faithful as a servant of the Lord...
1. to be protected by the state
Looking at the words of the text we read together today, it testifies that one of the graces that believers will receive is, “He protects and strengthens those who believe, without reproach until the day of Christ, to the end.”
If we look at these words, we can see that God protects His people first and that they are blameless.
This means that God's protection is perfect.
God controls the life of the believer and guides the path so that they live a holy life and protects those who are blameless.
Next, we can see that God's protection keeps us until the day of salvation.
In other words, God never forsakes His children when they are afflicted, sad, afflicted, or tempted, and constantly protects them.
The psalmist confessed to God's constant protection, saying, "He that keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep" (Psalm 121:4). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
In this way, God is the God of power who keeps those who believe completely blameless until the day of salvation.
Yehwa-John Newton's Testimony
John Newton was brought up in a Christian family in England at a very young age. At the age of six he was orphaned and lived with a non-Christian relative.
There, Christianity was teased and he was persecuted, and in order to escape from this family environment, he fled to sea and became an apprentice in the Royal Navy. But he also left here and fled to Africa, where he worked with a Portuguese slave trader, where he was treated very cruelly at his home. So, in the end, the young Newton fled to the shore to avoid this kind of treatment and started a fire calling for rescue, and was found on a slave ship returning to England and became the ship's assistant. But he couldn't even hold this position.
During the voyage, he sneaked into a warehouse where he kept his rum, and gave it to the sailors, so they all got drunk. Unconscious, he fell into the sea and was only rescued from drowning when one of the sailors stabbed him with a harpoon. This left a fist-sized scar on his thigh.
However, near the end of his voyage near Scotland, Newton's ship encountered a great storm and began to sink off course. He believed the boat would sink and drown. At this time, he remembered the words he had learned as a child and began to cry out to God. Surprisingly, when he remembered those words, he miraculously changed. that has been reborn. Since then, he has become a great English preacher and teacher of the Word of God. It was John Newton who wrote the following hymn.
“I am amazed by the grace of the Lord who saved a sinner like me, and I have found the life I lost and found light.” Salvation is given to those who do not deserve it, therefore, it is you and me. is given.
2. Fellowship with the Lord
On the other hand, in verse 9 after the text, “Faith is the God who calls you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Here, “to fellowship” means “to become one with one another and to be reconciled”.
Therefore, “fellowship with Christ” means becoming one with the Lord, participating in his work of redemption, and receiving the crown of victory by being resurrected.
This is the most precious of the many graces that the saints will receive.
Because the true hope that believers have is not in anything else, but in being faithful to the will of God and Christ in the world, and entering the kingdom of God to receive the crown of eternal life.
In fact, it can be said that all the graces the believer receives as described above are ultimately for obtaining this grace.
That is, to be spiritually prosperous, to gain firm faith, and to receive protection until the day of salvation are all for fellowship with Christ and becoming one with him.
In any case, the one who confesses and believes in Christ as his Lord receives from God the grace of God who protects him without rest for a day until and so that he may receive the crown of eternal life.
