Title: God's Guidance Text: Exodus 13:17-22
It was God's grace that made the Israelites exodus from Egypt. The people of Israel did not have the strength, nor the skill, nor the fighting power to defeat Pharaoh. It was God who led the 70 members of Jacob's family suffering from famine and drought to Egypt, and it was God's grace that made them live in Goshen, the most prosperous land in Egypt. It was God's grace that made me suffer in the life of a slave. Because it was through such suffering that I came to seek God. And it was God's absolute grace that broke Pharaoh's hardened heart and made the Israelites exodus from Egypt. Without God's grace, there was no beginning, no progress, no end. Therefore, the way for the Israelites to live is to live with God and to receive guidance from God. After liberating Israel from Pharaoh's hand, God directly led the people of Israel. He personally walked with the people of Israel. This is God's grace.
1. When God guides us, he leads us on the path of faith rather than on the comfortable path.
2. The God who guides us is the God who goes before us and guides us.
3. The God who guides us does not leave us.
Exodus 3:22 It is strength for little children that their parents are with them and not with them. The people of Israel are going on a road they have never traveled before. They are people who have never left Egypt. I haven't gone any other way. The most comforting and encouraging thing to these people is that God is with them, that they are walking together on that path, and that they do not leave until the end of their journey. The Lord also said this to the disciples who were afraid of the ascension of Jesus. Matthew 28:20 He said, “Teach them to obey all that I have commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” There was no greater comfort and strength for the disciples than this. The God who does not leave us is the God who does not leave us when the people of Israel go to war, when they cross the Red Sea, when they camp and sleep, or under any circumstances.
