Jacob awoke and said, Surely the LORD is here, and I did not know it. And he was afraid and said, "Awesome, this place, nothing else, this is the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven." And Jacob got up early in the morning, took the stone that had been pillowed, and set it up as a pillar, and he anointed it with oil and called the name of the place Bethel. The original name of this city was Luz. (Genesis 28:16-19)
The history of God is the history of faith. Beginning with Abraham, the father of faith, and succeeding Isaac Jacob and Joseph, it has been passed down gradually, and finally reached the final culmination of revelation through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. are progressing. In the course of this redemptive history, God set up people of faith to represent each age and set it as a sign that symbolizes that age. It is often said that the mission of a prophet and a priest coexist in the mission of Jesus as the Messiah, but rather than a prophet who speaks of justice, the priest's mission is as high and high as heaven, where he carries even the sins of the unrighteous on his back and goes before God to shed blood. That is why the historical church confessed the cross of Jesus as an incomparably higher mission of the Messiah than the teachings of Jesus.
