God's Just Judgment/Romans 2:1-11
This saying "All men are equal before the law" is the basic spirit of the law and the basic concept of equality for all. However, sometimes the definition of the law is different for different people. Therefore, we often experience the reality that the judicial judgment of the state, which should be sacred, is bent and distorted.
Since when, Koreans have been scolding us that if a fine is imposed or a judgment is made, it is unfair only to ourselves or that we intentionally put ourselves into the net of the law. A common saying is, "There are a lot of other people, so why am I doing this with only me?" expression.
So, it seems that there are more people in our country who suffer from injustice than any other country. Perhaps because of that, Yeouido and Gwacheon are struggling with demonstration parades throughout the year. But our God is just and judges all things equally, good and evil. He does not give preference or favoritism to any specific person, but He is a God who judges everyone fairly.
1. Human beings who must be judged by God
The Bible declares that all humans are sinners. Moreover, it is saying that no one is a sinner who can make excuses or excuses before God and cannot escape God's stern judgment.
(Romans 2:1) Therefore, you are without excuse, you who judge others, in judging others, for you are condemning yourself, for you who judge do the same thing.
Therefore, the Bible teaches that all people are fair before God, and that no one should be judged by God without exception. In particular, even 'a person who judges others' here is a sinner who deserves judgment before God.
In general, it can be said that those who judge and judge sinners are better and more righteous than others. Who is more righteous and better than a policeman or a prosecutor or a judge standing in court? Of course, society may say so, but even they have never been tested for moral or personal excellence. They were merely tasked with judging by legal standards.
God does not justify a person who judges. That everyone is the same sinner. The Bible does not say that presidents, ministers, or lawmakers are more righteous than the people, or that professors are better than students than rich people than poor people. Everyone is a sinner before God.
In fact, there are many people in the world who can live without the law. These people consider themselves relatively good. Others admit that they are good and lovers of good works. Also, I am not good at lying, I do not harm or harm others, and I am living as a conscious and exemplary citizen. However, these people are also sinners and are subject to God's judgment without exception.
On the one hand, these people have a sense of justice in dealing with injustice, and there are cases where they may suffer loss or persecution from others. When other people treat you like a sinner, you become angry and do not know what to do. This is because he always lives according to the standard he considers to be justified himself by his own good standards.
Another characteristic is that they are always ready to discipline others and give advice. When someone makes a mistake or makes a mistake, they show an attitude that it has nothing to do with them. This is a heart that does not fear God and does not repent.
2. The unrepentant sinner
(Romans 2:3) You who judge those who practice these things and do the same, do you think you will escape the judgment of God?
The text tells us that even those who always think that they are right and judge others can never escape God's severe judgment. Often, people pretend to be good-looking on the outside and adorn themselves with pretense and hypocrisy, leading a blatant life. Rather, educated people or people of high society who lead a noble life are more likely to commit hypocrisy and ugliness of crimes. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ;
Regarding the wrong attitudes committed by these people, the text points out the falsehoods and falsehoods well. Their flaw is that they think they are good and good and assume that others do wrong. In this way, judging others without seeing yourself rightly becomes the object of God's judgment.
(Luke 6:42) If you cannot see the log that is in your eye, why can you say to your brother, Brother, make me take the speck out of your eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your eye, and then you I will see clearly and remove the speck from the brother's eye.
Characteristics of these people are extroverted behaviors that make a desperate effort not to expose their weaknesses. It is also easy to find naturalness in dealing with others and to be consistent with artificial, formal behavior. Furthermore, compared to others, people are relatively tolerant of their own shortcomings and weaknesses.
(Matthew 7:3) Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not understand the log that is in your own eye?
The Lord is emphasizing that even those who judge others are subject to judgment before God like all people. In particular, their sins are not external things that people can easily see and know, but internal sins that they hold in their hearts.
Jesus says that if you hate your brother and curse him, it is like murder (1 John 3:15), and if you look at a woman with lust in your heart, you have already committed adultery (Matthew 5:28). In this way, Jesus was saying that what is hidden in people's hearts is the source of outwardly manifested evil. In this way, the sins cherished in the heart manifest themselves in various forms.
(Romans 1:29-31) Full of all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and malice, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice; one who does evil, one who plans evil, one who disobeys parents, one who is foolish, one who betrays one another, one who is heartless, one who is merciless.
God's judgment is different from human judgment, so it does not use outward appearances as the standard for judging, but has a standard in God's almighty ability to see everything. God is the one who will never fall for any disguise or deceit of man. Also, God ridicules humans who are full of self-rationalization.
(Romans 8:27) He who searches hearts knows the thoughts of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
(Romans 2:11) For God is no respecter of persons.
These days, in order to drive out politicians who are tainted with sin and self-interest, citizens are exposing their evil and demanding their resignation. However, it is not easy to find politicians looking back on their shameful side and publicly apologizing or repenting.
3. A God who repays you according to your deeds
(Ecclesiastes 12:14) God will judge every deed and every secret thing, good or evil.
However, people think that they are innocent and that even if they do have a sin, it is not revealed externally, and because no one knows, they cannot be the subject of punishment. So I think we can avoid God's judgment. But God is never deceived.
Moreover, people think that they are just and that God raises their hands and blesses them because, despite their sins, God does not punish them right away. But this is a big misunderstanding. God warns such people:
(Romans 2:4) Or do you despise the riches of his kindness and forbearance and forbearance, not knowing that God's kindness leads you to repentance?
Perhaps like the calm before the storm, the tolerance of God's patience and patience should not be mistaken for a blessing. We need to realize that it is a timid life path that is spiritually in danger. In this sense, the text warns us not to misunderstand the patience and abundance of God's ways.
The events, accidents, and falling people that are happening around us right now are not entirely unrelated to me. This is our God's warning to us and the means by which he speaks.
(Luke 13:4-5) And do you think that the eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell and died were more guilty than all those who lived in Jerusalem? I tell you, no, unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
We need to deeply realize God's long-suffering patience and give up our unrepentant heart and stubbornness of not knowing ourselves rightly and come to God. Repentance is the way we stand and the way we truly live. Only repentance will guide our lives on the right path.
(Romans 2:5) But according to your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when the righteous judgment of God is revealed.
In the end, our unrepentant hearts and stubbornness provoke the wrath of God. It is said that there are many people who cannot break their stubbornness and self-righteousness and destroy themselves even though they are being disgraced and completely fallen. Also, they do not acknowledge the fact that they are falling apart, blame God, and maintain the arrogance of claiming their innocence to the end.
Shall we cast off the masks and face of the world and come to God for His blessing and eternal life? Or will you build up your face, stubbornness, and self-esteem and give up your eternal life? This is something you will have to decide and choose for yourself.
(Romans 2:6-8) God will reward each one according to his deeds, eternal life to those who by persevering in doing good seek glory and honor and immortality; but to those who are selfish and do not follow the truth but pursue unrighteousness. in anger and fury
conclusion
The Bible says, 'There is none righteous, not even one' (Romans 3:9). You will have to break free from your false pretense that you are a righteous person. We must realize that we are in the presence of a God who sees with flaming eyes as the standard of justice and fairness. In the end, all of our lives will have to live remembering the fact that we will stand before God's severe judgment seat.
God hates sin, but loves the repentant spirit. One of the greatest ills of our generation today is unrepentance. The same goes for religion. A religion without repentance will be a religion full of hypocrisy and hypocrisy.
Christians should always recognize that they are sinners before God and live a life of repentance. We must remember that repentance is the only way to live before God.
Because there is no one who is honest enough to live without repentance or who lives a righteous life. In front of the Word of God, who sees the secrets without looking at the outward appearance, there must be true contrition to expose ourselves and live upright and righteous lives.
(Ecclesiastes 11:9) Rejoice, young man, in your youth, and rejoice in the days of your youth, and walk in the way of your heart and the sight of your eyes; but know that God will judge you for all these things.
What we need to know for sure is that God's stern judgment awaits. We must serve the God who sees everything good and evil and judges us according to our deeds.
