Title: God's Movement
Contents
A genealogy is an important thing that tells a family and who I am. Matthew 1 tells us who Jesus is, starting with the genealogy of Jesus. It shows that Jesus is the descendant of Abraham and David who came as promised. The genealogy of Jesus also shows us how God worked to send Jesus to this earth. Behind these seemingly written names are the wonderful hands of God who worked and provided for salvation. This is called ‘God’s momentum’, ‘God’s zeal,’ or ‘God’s sovereignty’. The power of God in history and in the lives of believers cannot be stopped by human power. God is doing His works according to His will. God comes to our life and history and makes history and the path of life a way to go before God. In the end, life and history have no choice but to submit to God's move and accomplish God's work of salvation.
First, God's kinetic power is revealed through the response of faith.
God chose a man named Abraham and called him. Hearing the promise, “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, and you will be a blessing”, and I set out toward a new land. God believed in God who would bless his descendants, the world, and the nation through Abraham's response to faith and obedience. It was the grace given to the Gentiles in this gospel Christ. God is working the work of salvation, and He is looking for people who will respond with faith. Trust that God blesses you, even when no one is around you, no one to support you. And dream in your heart that a path of faith will be built for you, your family, and your community. I hope that you will be able to respond with faith so that it becomes a channel of blessing.
Second, even if you do not believe in God's moving power, He will accomplish it.
The genealogy of Jesus records faulty individuals, such as Manasseh and King Ahaz. These are people who would rather not be recorded. Why did God put these people in the genealogy of Jesus? Even though we have our unbelief, weakness, and sin, God uses it to accomplish His work. In other words, God's sovereign providence cannot prevent these weaknesses. Pharaoh, king of Egypt, was an evil man who did not know God, but God established him and used him as a channel through which God's power could be revealed. What we have to admit is that God works through people's sins, distrust, and contradictions. Therefore, our eyes must be fixed on God's power to work through even unbelief.
Third, God's kinetic power is revealed through lowly people.
