Title: God's Requirements (1 Thessalonians 05:16-18)
Contents God's requirements (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
2. The Christian life is to pray without ceasing. This admonition is not to stop praying. During the winter and summer months, sports take a break, but athletes never stop practicing. Actors also become awkward when they take a break from acting, and preachers become slurred when preaching after taking a year off. If you take a break from driving for more than a year, you will find something awkward when you grab the steering wheel. A famous pianist once said, “If I take a day off from practice, I will know it, and if I take three days off from practice, the audience will know.” All music, art, scholarship, and movement requires continuity. The same is true of the religious life. Some people say they believe in Jesus, some say they pray, and some say they do service. “Pray without ceasing” here does not mean to put everything aside and just pray. It means to pray unceasingly while doing homework, work, and business. The meaning of the original word “without rest” is “as if breathing, constantly”. Prayer is the breath of the soul. The one who constantly prays to God is the one who breathes, that is, the one who is alive. We must not commit the sin of ceasing prayer.
