God's Retribution and Judgment

Romans 2:6-16

God's judgment applies to all believers and unbelievers alike. Paul speaks of the standard of judgment for those who choose to live according to their conscience, and those who think that it doesn't matter how they live if they believe in Jesus.

First, God rewards us for what we do.

“God will reward each one according to what he has done” (6). God rewards each person according to what they have done. All people are sinners, whether they sin openly or unknowingly.

“To those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are self-righteous and do not pursue the truth but pursue unrighteousness, wrath and wrath.” (7-8)

God gives the eternal life he has prepared to those who long-suffering and earnestly doing good, who seek the glory, honor, and immortality of God. However, wrath and wrath are provoked by those who form a party and do not live according to the truth but follow injustice.

“There will be tribulation and distress for every spirit of man who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek; glory and honor and peace to each man who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (verses 9 and 10)

Second, he judges unbelievers according to his conscience.

There is a standard for judging those who do not have the law and those who do not believe in Jesus, and that is their conscience.

“When Gentiles who do not have the law by nature do the things of the law, even though they do not have the law, they are a law to themselves. It reveals the deeds of the people” (14-15).

Third, believers are judged according to their practice.

“It is not the hearers of the law who are righteous in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified.”

We are talking about two kinds of people here. Those who have the law and those who do the law. It is not reassuring to believe in God, but we must hear the word and act. God judges us by how much we responded to the word and lived.

Fourth, the day will come when all our secret deeds will be judged.

Here is the conclusion. “The day when God will judge the secrets of men through Jesus Christ, according to my gospel” (verse 16).

The day of judgment on the secret is the day of wrath. God judges even the secret.

conclusion

From the two standards of conscience and law, man is an inescapable sinner. Those who believe in God and those who do not believe are all sinners in the sight of God in the light of God's standards. Only Jesus Christ can wash away our sins and forgive us. Do not condemn others, but have pity and be merciful. And admit and confess that you are the same sinner. We have no right to condemn, but only to love. Since we are all sinners who can stumble at any time and sleep with our sins every day, we should pray for forgiveness every day. And you have to forgive someone.
