Meditation: Who are my witnesses?
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: “There are three that testify, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood, and these three are one. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is even greater. … And this is the evidence, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life, and he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:7-12). )
I can't be more grateful than that if someone could advocate for me when I'm in trouble. The testimony of being a man of God is given by the Holy Spirit. A person of the Holy Spirit is not afraid or weak because he is constantly supported by the Holy Spirit. With that kind of power, Christians can sometimes undergo martyrdom and overcome difficult trials when they come. Verses 7-12 of today's text speak of this Christian privilege.
We Christians say that there are three people who can testify in difficult times. It is said to be the Spirit, water, and blood.
The Holy Spirit as the Triune God, water symbolizing baptism, and blood symbolizing the sacrifice of Christ. These three testify threefold. That is why the testimony is certain. There can be no other words. We receive this sure testimony. This testimony is that Jesus Christ is in us, that He has washed away all our sins, and that He has paid the price to redeem us. Therefore, we have nothing to bear for our sins.
This fact is evidenced by the confession of faith that confesses the Son of God as the Lord (verses 10-11). Confessing Jesus as Lord is proof that there is eternal life in him. Because the Son is life. As long as Christ, the life, is in us, we have life. Because He is unchanging, once He comes into us, He is forever. We already have eternal life.
In verse 12, whether he has eternal life or not is determined by whether he confesses Christ as the Savior or not. Confessing Christ as Savior means making Christ Lord of all your life. Therefore, I want all of us to make Christ the Lord of our lives.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us all to make Christ our Lord. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
