Old Testament
1. The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners;
2. Declare the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, comforting all who mourn,
4. They will rebuild the places that were long desolate, and they will rebuild the places that were destroyed of old;
8. All I, the LORD, love justice and hate the robbery of iniquity; I will repay them faithfully and make an everlasting covenant with them.
9. I will make their descendants known among the nations, and their descendants among all the peoples, and everyone who sees them will acknowledge that they are the children of the LORD.
11. As the earth sprouts, and as a garden springs up what is sown there, so the Lord GOD will cause justice and praise to spring up before all nations.
new testament

sermon
A mother who has sent her child to the military prepares food carefully while waiting for the day to go to visit for her beloved son. How do we wait for the Lord's coming, and what should we prepare? God will be pleased with those who do His will, but what is His will?
1. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in everything
God's will is that we always rejoice. It is not the worldly joy, but the absolute joy that God gives us beyond circumstance.
2. It is for us to be whole and holy
Paul describes God as the God of peace. Jesus also appeared to his disciples and told them to have peace, and the result of the work of the Holy Spirit in those who believe is also deeply lasting peace. He makes you whole with peace.
3. It is God who makes this happen
The reason why the saints can count and wait for these promises of God is because God is faithful. The God who created and rules the heavens and the earth is still keeping His promises to us just as He rules all things.
If you trust in God's faithfulness every day, you become confident that he will fulfill what he promised to do in the future.
He will fulfill his will to make us whole and holy.
