7. God's wrath against sin (Romans 1:18)
(Romans 1:18) The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of those who hold back the truth in unrighteousness.
(Romans 1:26) For this reason God gave them over to shameful lusts, that their women also changed the natural for the opposite,
(Romans 1:27) In the same way, men also forsook the use of women as they were meant to be, and lust for one another seemed to be burning, and the other with men did the shameful thing, and received in themselves a due recompense for their wrongdoing.
(Romans 1:28) Also, since they did not want to keep God in their hearts, God gave them over to their lost will, to do what is not fitting.
(Romans 1:29) One who is full of all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice;
(Romans 1:30) A slanderer, a hater of God, a reproacher, an arrogant, a boaster, a schemer of evil, disobedient to parents.
(Romans 1:31) The foolish, the treacherous, the heartless, the merciless.
(Romans 1:32) Even though they know the ordinance of God that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only practice themselves, but also approve of those who practice them.
Verse 18 declares that man is under the wrath of God. This means that man is under a curse and death.
Why is God so angry with humans?
You may think that it is not important to me because it has nothing to do with me because I believed in Jesus as my Savior. But returning to the natural man and seeing the original form of man helps us to live with a stronger and more powerful faith.
Why God Is Wrathful
* God's wrath against ungodly sin (19-25)
(Romans 1:19) For the things that may be known of God are manifested in them, and God has revealed them to them.
(Romans 1:20) Since the creation of the world his invisible things, even his eternal power and divinity, have been clearly seen and understood in all the things he has made; therefore, they are without excuse.
(Romans 1:21) But when they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks; but their thoughts became futile, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
(Romans 1:22) They say they are wise, but they become fools.
(Romans 1:23) They exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for images made in the form of corruptible man, and of gold and scum.
(Romans 1:24) Therefore God gave them over to uncleanness according to the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies to one another.
(Romans 1:25) For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creation more than the Creator, to whom the Lord is praised forever. Amen
An ungodly sinner is a man who lives by saying that there is no God.
(Psalm 53:1) A fool says in his heart, There is no God.
human nature
. know God
. glorify God
. It is living thanks to God.
However, knowing what to do and not doing what is to be done is ungodly, and it is a greater sin with an attitude of contempt for God.
Luke 12:47-48 -- Those who know the will of the Lord but do not do it: they will be beaten a lot
Those who do not know the will of the Lord and do not do it: they will be beaten less
So, do all people know God?
(Romans 1:19) For the things that may be known of God are manifested in them, and God has revealed them to them.
. Humans instinctively showed in them something to know God. Therefore, there are no savages on this earth who do not know that God exists. Even a savage living like an animal has all the seeds of a religion that seeks God.
Ex) Just as a child instinctively seeks its mother after birth, humans also instinctively have the knowledge of God.
. God has engraved clear signs to know God, not only on human instinct, but also on all creations that God has created.
(Romans 1:20) Since the creation of the world his invisible things, even his eternal power and divinity, have been clearly seen and understood in all the things he has made; therefore, they are without excuse.
Ex) Everything in the Universe - God's Palace
Human - the person who lives in the palace
But how can a person living in a palace live without knowing the king who is in the palace?
Therefore, there is no such thing as atheism, and the troll that God is not glorified because he does not know God is absolutely not established. They know God but do not serve Him, and they are simply saying that there is no God in order to make their thoughts sham.
So, why do people not knowingly glorify God even though they know there is a God?
Reason
1. Because man's heart was darkened by sin.(21)
2. This is because humans mistake themselves for being wise.(22)
True wisdom is to fear and obey God.
(Proverbs 1:7) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.
1) What a self-proclaimed wise person seeks
. Idols - In the eyes of those who consider themselves wise, serving idols seems far more free and convenient than serving God. He changed the glory of God into a creature.
- Two characteristics of idolatry
. Create a comfortable god from your own point of view.
. A way to satisfy the lusts of the heart
- Idolatry is closely related to sexual depravity.
