Title: God and Caesar

▒▒ Bible_ Luke 20:19~26
It is not easy to distinguish between politics and religion. Among the works of the famous Greek playwright Sophocles, there is a work called “Antigone”. The heroine's name is Electra, but her younger brother is killed by the king. After killing Electra's younger brother, the king orders him not to be buried in the ground because he is a sinner. However, Electra collects her brother's body and bury it in the ground. “Even though it is not a written law, an eternal law, a heavenly law, says to respect the dead.” Electra clearly states that there is a positive law called politics before our eyes, but there is a heavenly law above it.
As Jesus' popularity grew, the scribes and Pharisees felt threatened and wanted to kill him. And he asks a question that puts Jesus in a corner. “Should I pay my taxes to God? Should I give it to Caesar?” I was waiting with a cunning heart as to which of the two to choose.
Then Jesus took a denarius and asked who the picture on the silver coin was and what was written on it. The scribes and Pharisees replied that the silver coin had Caesar's face on it, and underneath it was written Roman emperor in Roman language. As you can see from the pictures and writings on the silver coin, it is said that the person who controls you and that law is Caesar, and it is the law of Caesar. They say they want to get out of the Roman colony and serve God, but in real life, the law that rules you is the Roman law, the law of the world. Even though we believe in God, the law that governs us in our real life is the Korean corporation. And no matter how hard we try to break away from that law, as long as we live in Korea, we can't get out of that law. It also asks how much you live by God's law, and God's things are God's things as if you followed the laws of Caesar.
Last but not least, the truth must be sought. Truth is not just given, it is to be sought. If we search a little bit about which belongs to God and which belongs to Caesar, we can discover the truth. Because truth is given to those who seek it. What is hidden is bound to be revealed. The secret will be revealed to those who seek the hidden secret of God. When we discover and worship the hidden God, we believe that there will be a glory to God and a blessing to us.
