When Eric Riddle helped the Chinese people with the gospel, the Japanese imprisoned him as a spy. However, he preached the gospel even in prison. A community of faith began to form within the prison. He died in prison at the young age of 42, but his face lit up when he died and he ended his life in praise and worship. Those who heard the gospel buried him in a small garden next to the prison, saying, “God's hero Eric Riddle sleeps here. How will God evaluate me when my heart stops beating?
The word of this text is a life close to God, which is the inheritance of the priests, and we want to live in obedience to the word.
First, those who believe in Jesus Christ must live their lives as priests of all.
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the goodness of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, the saints who have become priests of all.
Among the many things that appear in the Old Testament, the word that is not appropriate for our time, but continues to be used, is the word priest. Hundreds of years have passed since the Reformation ended, but rather, the term we often use is priest.
We are called priests. Yes, when talking about the priest of all. When Martin Luther claimed that the existing church had many faults at the time, he would not have thought that the results would be as huge as they are now.
The fact is that the priest of all men had the office of the first priest.
In the Old Testament, only priests could enter the sanctuary with their sins and have the sins of the people be forgiven.
But when Jesus died on the cross, the curtain was torn from top to bottom. Matthew 27:51 “Then the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth shook and the rock broke.”
In the end, only the priests in the sanctuary could offer sacrifices with sin, but because the veil was torn from the top, anyone who had sins came out to this temple with sins and was forgiven in the name of Jesus.
Therefore, when Luther carried out the Reformation, only the priest had the privilege to forgive sins, so Luther risked his life for reform.
At that time, indulgences were the theory that the soul in paradise enters the kingdom of heaven the moment it buys them.
Even today, money intervenes, reminiscent of selling indulgences. Building the Tower of Babel in the form of a church as an external appearance, while showing the power of the general president or the authority of the church with the power of money, is the act of nailing Jesus to the cross.
Not everyone, but we must not forget the priesthood of this age.
The second is the prophetic priesthood.
You are a chosen people...this is a prophetic priesthood.
We have a mission to receive and proclaim the Word. The election of the people of Israel is a command to proclaim Jesus Christ to the whole world.
Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Command the risen disciples 19 Therefore go ye and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit 20 Teach them to obey all that I have commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. I will be with you.
We have been given a mission to fulfill a prophetic role as a specially chosen people.
Third, he gave the office of a royal priesthood.
“Royal priests”

King Uzziah even became a leper while attempting to serve as a priest (2 Chronicles 26:16-21). However, Melchizedek king of Salem was called a priest of the Most High God (Genesis 14:18), and Christ was in the perfect sense of the word. He is the king, the priest.
In other words, a royal priesthood means a life that enjoys the privileges of the king of heaven.
In this way, the priest of all men must live a life of being a priestly priest, a royal priest, and a prophetic priest.
Those who receive forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ, enjoy the royal life of heaven as a citizen of heaven, and live the life of those who proclaim the word as a prophetic priest.
In order to fulfill this office of the priest of all people, we must long for the Word and obey it.
2Like newborn babies, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that through it you may grow up to salvation.
When you long for spiritual milk, you can fulfill the duties of the priest of all men.
You must abide in Jesus Christ.
4 Come to Jesus, a precious living stone rejected by men, but chosen by God,
Only by coming to Jesus can you fulfill the office of priest of all people
5 You also, like living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
When a spiritual house is built through Jesus Christ, we can take on the role of a spiritual and holy priesthood.
This is a life of obedience to the Word. If you do not obey the Word, you will fall.
It means that you cannot fulfill your duties as a priest because you do not obey the Word.
When we long for the spiritual milk, we can handle the priesthood of all people well. We believe that by living the life of Jesus Christ, we will receive the forgiveness of sins, enjoy the royal privileges of heaven, and live by preaching the word.
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the beautiful virtues of the righteousness that called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
10 For you were once not a people, but now you are God's people; you once had no mercy, but now you have obtained mercy.
We hope that you and I will be obedient to the Word and live life as priests of all.
