Old Testament
1. The LORD said to Abram, "Leave your country, your kindred, and your father's house, and go to the land I will show you.
2. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
3. Whoever blesses you I will bless, and whoever curses you I will curse, and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.
4. So Abram followed the word of the LORD, and Lot went with him; and Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.
new testament
1. You foolish Galatians, who deceived you when Jesus Christ was clearly seen before your eyes on the cross?
2. I tell you this only from you, did you receive the Holy Spirit by works of the law or by hearing and by faith?
3. Are you so foolish that you began with the Spirit and now finish with the flesh?
4. Have you suffered so much in vain?
5. Is the work of him who gives you the Holy Spirit and works miracles among you, by works of the law, or by hearing and faith?
6. As it is said that Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7. Know then that those who come by faith are the children of Abraham.
8. And the Scripture, knowing in advance that God would justify the Gentiles through faith, preached the gospel to Abraham first, saying, In you all the Gentiles will be blessed.
9. Therefore, those who come through faith are blessed together with Abraham who has faith.
sermon
When God called him, Abraham left his hometown, relatives, and home, and went out to the land of Canaan, which God had directed. God made a covenant with Abraham and promised that his descendants would become great. Abraham and his descendants were promised a blessing not only for themselves, but also for those around them who met them. Have we ever heard of God's call?
1. What kind of people does God call? God calls believers. Abraham was not wealthy, pedigree, or high position. He was just an ordinary person. But when God called him, he answered with faith. He believed and obeyed God's promises.
2. What does God require when calling? demands faith. It is often believed that obedience triggers faith, but in reality this is not the case. When we believe in God's promises, obedience is triggered. Without faith, obedience does not occur. Obedience begins when we believe in the One who made the promise.
3. What is the purpose of God's sending? God's purpose in sending a blessing to Abraham is to make him a blessing to many. “All families on earth will be blessed through you” Our blessings are not just for us. We are the blessing of our neighbors.
God has called us to give us an eternal inheritance. The God who called Abraham called us in Jesus Christ, who was born as his descendant. God has given us forgiveness and forgiveness and salvation, and He wants us to be blessed today. Are we ready to have faith to receive his promises?
